The latest installment of the PDC Darts game for the Xbox 360 really is superb.

I played the last game, which was released back in 2008, religiously and was looking forward to the release of the latest edition. It certainly doesn't fail to match the standards set by its predecessor. In fact, it completely obliterates it in every sense.

The gameplay is much better and more realistic, with 2 viewing angles available. The commentary is great aswell, instead of just having Sid Waddell, we've been given John Gwynne as well, which simply makes the whole experience more enjoyable. On top of this the PDC master of ceremonies also introduces the players, as well as the addition of both PDC score callers, Bruce Spendley and Russ Bray.

The graphics are massively improved from the last edition also. The crowd look like real people and jump about with their pints of beer as your third dart nestles into the 60 stripe.

However, its the little things that really make this game shine. The player customisation element is stratospherically improved. Instead of just a few faces and bodies to choose from, players have the opportunity to pick a variety of bodies, faces, hairstyles, clothing, darts and glasses, with more to unlock as the game progresses.
Also, the players outside of the top 16, i.e the featured players, also look like the real player, instead of the last game where they were simply allocated random faces and bodies.

Altogether, this is a tremendous effort from O Games International and a vastly improved attempt on the impressive 2008 edition.

I simply couldn't recommend this game highly enough. Its superb.

confusing and tricky targeting system when trying to throw the dart during a match :S.you have to push back on the 'lb' or 'rb' button of the controller, move the left stick or right stick back then quickly flick that stick forward and release that button to throw the dart. but even if, according to the in game targeting assistance, you flick the stick totally straight and release the button at the right time, the dart ends up several centimeters below or above the target depending on the part of the board you're aiming at :(. meaning you easily get beaten by the computer opponents. only buy the xbox 360 version if you have the patience of a saint. it should be okay to buy the nintendo wii console version though if you have that system as i guess you just throw the dart by aiming the remote at the board on the screen :D

As a massive PDC fan, I was thrilled to receive this game as a gift on Christmas Day. I found the game was easy to get into from the very first session I had on the practice board after I'd made my very customised character. The control method is easy to get to grips with and the authentic scorers and commentary from John Gwynne and Sid Waddell initially makes for a great darts experience. However, I found that after a few games the dialogue from the commentary team got repetitive and I felt like pressing mute on my remote control once I'd heard Sid Waddell's "Total Eclipse Of The Dart" reference for the 3rd time in as many minutes. The career mode works quite well if you have a spare 2-3 hours to spend competing on just one event (I spent an entire hour just playing one match and when you have to do this 3 or 4 times to win an event it makes you long for the option to be able to edit the number of legs/sets etc for each event rather than having to win 17 legs or 18 legs of darts to advance).

The real fun of this game is in playing against a colleague or online against a fellow competitor from around the globe because the matches involving the CPU can be very long winded and frustrating after a while and at least playing against an actual person freshens the experience up somewhat.

All in all though, a decent effort at a Darts game but areas for improvement are many... more PDC players should be available, licensed entrance themes would be good, more custom items such as clothing, darts flights, hair styles and more options to customise tournaments to allow for faster paced "action".

Firstly I should point out that this game is actually very good on the nintendo wii. I had it originally for that but when after a full world matchplay final in the career mode my arm felt like it was about to fall off I thought the xbox would be a good idea and might save my arm.. Unfortunately it is terrible trying to play this game with a regular xbox controller not like the first darts game I played on the psp a few years back which worked fine. The touch sensitivity is ridiculous and impossible to control. Dont be naive like me get this for the WII or the xbox ONLY IF YOU HAVE A KINECT otherwise you will end up throwing your controller at the wall. As far as the game goes other than that it is a lot of fun especially with your mates involved. Career mode is ok if not a bit repetitive and Sid Waddel in the commentary box is crackers as usual. four star rating on the wii or kinect. 0 star rating if played regular.

The game itself is great!! a huge improvement on 2008 and is far cheaper on here than any where else.
The graphics and commentary are excellent. Its great playing against people online in one off games. The only problem i have is im unable to click on xbox live party feature for competing in online tournaments, under the the x box live menu, which is a big loss to the excitment of the game, anyone who has had a similiar problem and doesnt have could they please reply back to us, as im considering sending the game back and asking for another copy to see if it makes any difference.
cheers simon
