But what I think is the most important chapter of this book is chapter 6 on HIV/AIDS. I lived during the AIDS crises that rewrote how health care operated in the United States and I saw it with my own eyes. I have not found a better history of HIV/AIDS written anywhere else. It is worth the read just for this chapter alone. It also talks about Oxygen or ozone treatment done in the past. I have also heard it is being tried against Ebola. One thing is for sure YOU WILL NEVER hear about it. Oxygen and ozone are free you can not get a patent on it or make it a monopoly therefore modern medicine is not interested in even trying it. Any progress in the past or the future will never see the light of day. I don't know if the therapies are good or bad. According to the book they have been used for a long long time. But this is work the read for anyone trying to understand what illness is and how to help your body get well again.
For the reviewer with the review below entitled: "Some good ideas, some bad science, May 12, 2003", I say thank you for your sound and sober suggestions and scientific insights but also I think you took some of the book out of context.
You wrote in your review, among other criticisms: "Furthermore, the author completely neglects the difference between an obligate anaerobe ("dies in the presence of oxygen") and facultative aerobes ("can use oxygen, or not, depending on its availability"). That a cell need not use oxygen as its primary respiratory source does not mean that the cell will necessarily die in the presence of oxygen."
But I'd like to say that, actually, these cells can't survive in "highly oxygenated systems". Our bodies all have some oxygen, the point IS to INCREASE OXYGEN in the system to enhance health whereby the body creates the chemicals it needs to kill off organisms that are detrimental and keep the body in good order. This is the purpose beyond yogic breathing which has been in practice for thousands of years. Also, same as a fever, sweat lodges, high heat, kill off disease and microbes in the body to help maintain health. Doctors, sadly, are learning to prescribe drugs to reduce fevers. This is detrimental because this the body's natural way of killing off disease. Our medical system is handicaped from actually helping people heal because it is really only focused on its financial bottom line.
Oxygen Therapies cost pennies. Drug companies can't make tons of money off of it. It is a very sad state in the universe indeed but at least we have hope with people like Nathaniel Altman & Ed McCabe and others.
From the first breath taken at birth, having enough oxygen is the most vital factor in our lives. Our environment's ability to produce oxygen is now severely compromised due to the rapid destruction of the oxygen producing rainforests, and the constant polluting of our air and oceans. Our air and our water commonly contain oxygen-consuming pollutants that are robbing the good health of every living thing. We clearly don't get enough daily oxygen inside us. This dangerous because....
the vast majority of disease-causing bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other hamful microbes that harm our bodies are anaerobic and therefore thrive best in low oxygen conditions.
But the good news is that because they are anaerobic, these microbes can't exist in in well-oxygenated bodies! Our bodies constatly use oxygen to oxidize microbes permanently, along with any collected waste and pollution. This means in order to be healthy, our bodies must have plenty of oxygen to engulf the anaerobes, and to eliminate the pollution, together the ultimate cause of most disease."
