I bought this tail lamp to complement a rear pannier rack that I recently attached to my road bike. It has a number of excellent features and one really dire one!

The LEDs are bright - seriously so, and with several different flashing patterns can be seen clearly for a very great distance - as a motorist I would find it difficult to miss this particular tail lamp!

The lamp also has a built in reflector which negates the the need for a seperate unit and so saves a little on the weight.

The mounting is great and easy to fit to any standard rear carrier, but is not very well designed.... now the really bad bit....

The switch for the light (when attached to the bike) is between the back of the light and the mounting - normal position for LED lights. Access to this is overcome by the fitting of a small actuator arm into the mounting allowing the light to be switched on and off whilst attached to the bike. So, this would be great except that the actuator on mine has gone, completely. I do not leave the light on the bike during my normal daytime rides and as a consequence, the actuator arm has dropped out/fallen off, whatever.

I now have a light that I have to remove from the bike each time I want to switch it on or off!

Be warned, you will need to leave this lamp attached to your bike at all times you are moving or you will lose a very important part of the control mechanism - you have been warned!

Ths Oxford Carrier Fit Rear LED red light is very bright, the best for that price. Very easy to fit. Someone said it can come off with bumps, but all you need to do is screw it the other way round to avoid that and it's sorted. I've been using mine now for over a month and it hasn't come out.

Bought two of these recently as my wife's bike and mine have panniers in the back. The comments about the lights bouncing out can be sorted by mounting it upside down. There is a little tab to operate the light and this can fall out when the light is removed. Only problem I have is one of the LEDs has stopped working already but the wife's is fine. Multi mode flashing and very bright.

Ive been using this light for a few weeks and it hasn't fallen out of its bracket and the batterys haven't become loose from rough pot hole riding.
My problem with it is the amount of silly flashy settings avalible, and the switch isnt very responsive so im there pressing it 20 times just to switch the bloody thing off. owell :)

Easy to install & is bright & so far the batteries do last quite well. But the bracket really needs improving, it has a lever to hit the switch on light but found this falls off if you cycle w/o the light clipped in. Also the light clips in the bracket & found if you hit a bump hard it jumps out.

It just arrive yesterday and is perfect for my pannier rack. Very bright. Although I did find it fiddly to fit but alas: thats the joys of having short stubby fingers especially when doing fiddly jobs.

Very good light for the carrier and secure attached! I put it upside down to make sure it will not slide over a bump. It seems quite sturdy and hopefully will last long. I would recommend it to everyone.

Unfortunately the one I received did not work at all. When the batteries are inserted the LEDs light up brightly. After turning off and turning back on again, they become extremely dim and intermittent, suggesting there is a problem with electrical connection. Also, as some other reviewers suggested, the little plastic bar that pushes the switch did fall off and went missing, even before I had a chance to install the light to my bike.

The whole thing does appear to be poorly designed and constructed. (I did take it apart to examine the electrical connection, and even to my untrained eye it didn't look very well designed or put together.) If you want a back light to go on the pannier rack, just get the standard Smart back light and a pannier rack bracket. There is a reason why the Smart's design has been around for more than a decade - it's as cheap, and it works.
