I was given a copy of this amazing story in return for my honest review. Violet was a great character. She is the one we are told to be like. She knows the role she is supposed to play and does her hardest to stick to it. She is is poised, elegant and doesn't rock the boat. Until him.

Ryder is the street kid that was pulled from the gutter and has begun to make a success out of his life. When his mentor makes a bet with him it is the perfect opportunity for him to ruffle the feathers of the woman that has intrigued him since he met her. Violet is the pinnacle of the untouchable but Ryder knows that he deserves the woman, the job that he craves and the opportunity to showcase his talent. So he takes the bet.

These two characters are breathtaking in the development of their relationship. I am so excited to see where this series goes. Monica Murphy has developed a group of characters that I fell in love with. The romance in this book is hot and Ryder has hands that can make any woman sing.

4.25 stars--OWNING VIOLET is the first installment in Monica Murphy’s contemporary, adult The Fowler Sisters erotic, romance series focusing on heirs to the Fleur Cosmetics Company Violet, Lily and Rose Fowler. This is Violet Fowler and Ryder McKay’s storyline.

Told from alternating first person points of view (Violet and Ryder), OWNING VIOLET finds good girl and daddy’s favorite Violet Fowler in a state of confusion. Believing her less than faithful boyfriend of two years is about to propose, Violet comes away shocked to discover that Zachary has accepted a temporary position in London, England with Fleur Cosmetics. Dismissed and discarded, Violet will unknowingly find herself the pawn in a much different game when the sexy head of packaging for Fleur Cosmetics-Ryder McKay-takes an immediate interest in Violet where an anything goes relationship is just what she needs. Hoping to keep their tryst a secret, Violet agrees to a ‘friends with benefits’ affair not realizing that someone else is pulling Ryder’s strings. What began as a dare becomes something so much more.

The relationship between Violet and Ryder is spontaneous, erotic and sensual. From the boardroom conference table, to the bedroom and every surface in between Ryder and Violet’s supposedly secret affair becomes fodder for the employees at Fleur Cosmetics. Violet is considered the quiet, shy and overachieving sister but in the bedroom a different side of Violet will emerge.

Ryder is a bad boy with a bad boy reputation; an alpha male with dark secrets and a darker past but when Violet is told that everything about their relationship is a ruse, Violet will walk away heartbroken and destroyed. Ryder has made a pact with the devil and the devil has set her sights on someone more powerful within the company.

“I’m forever changed because of her.”

I love starting a new book by Monica Murphy; I am always excited to learn of her new characters and the world in which they live. I’m pleased to say Owning Violet did not disappoint. Set in the world of business and cosmetics, Owning Violent was an exciting change from Monica and it’s worth noting, the boardroom shenanigans worked very well. ;-)

Violet Fowler is the middle child by age and middle child by nature. She’s the peacemaker of the family and the one who holds it all together. Violet is switched on in her professional life, she has a flair for the family business and wants to go as far as she can but when it comes to her personal life, she has much to learn. Starting with removing herself as the unfaithful, Zachary’s doormat and resisting the charms of her co-worker Ryder, which proves easier, said than done.

“I think using Ryder as the perfect distraction will help. Or hurt. I can’t tell yet. But that doesn’t scare me enough to stop me.”

Ryder McKay didn’t have a great start in life; he has fought his way from poverty to a prestigious job thanks to his friend, with complicated benefits, Pilar. When the opportunity arises for Ryder to advance further in the company he takes it with both hands, seducing Violet may be a perk of the job but Ryder doesn’t realise before it’s too late that he may be the one that’s being seduced.

“I need distance so I can gather my jumbled thoughts. I never wanted to give her any power. That was never part of my plan. I was going to own her, and believe me I’m almost there. But I never counted on her trying to own me.

** Book recieved in exchange for an honest review **

I loved the one week girlfriend series and have a few more of her books to read on my kindle.

Owning Violet is the first in the Fowler Sisters series, and I'm looking forward to reading the rest, Rose is next.

Violet is the middle sister. Has had her problems but has worked hard to get where she is at Fleur, the cosmetics company that was started by her grandmother. She has Zachery on her arm, even if he doesn't like to be faithful and she's eager to become his wife.- Why? I have no idea!

Meanwhile we meet Ryder and Pilar. Two people who don't mind using who they want, when they want, especially each other. They hatch a plan to break up the golden couple and sleep their way to the top.

Violet is willing to even use too, even though its out of character.

What neither Ryder or Violet expect is the chemistry that happens between them. New feelings and pleasures come to life between the both of them. Violet not expecting to like the 'rougher' side of life and Ryder not expecting to like the softer feelings he gets for her.

There is alot of bck and forth over the whole reason that this sarted out and I think that that kind of dwindled towards the end... you never got the end story over Pilar wanting to take over the company, so i'm hoping in Stealing Rose and/or Taming Lily that we get more input into that.

The sex scences happen at least once in every chapter.

The back and fourth between them is confusing and I do think the lack of resolution over that thing between Pilar and Ryder knocks the plot down a bit. I was expecting quite a bit of a scene over it, and yet nothing. Not even when Violet found out, she didn't slam her face into a wall or protect her father.

The ending? It's exactly how a HAE should be, I just wish Ryder would get his caveman attitude under check. I have a fear of that crap these days...
