Sawyer Dixon is from a very religious family where females should be seen and not heard, she and her mother had been dominated, battered and abused by her fanatical father, until her mother committed suicide.Whilst at her mothers funeral Sawyer realizes if she dosen’t get out now it will be her funeral next and her life will be over before she has a chance to live. After she finds keys to a RV and deeds to some land that her mother left her she flee’s to the swamps and a place called Outskirts.
Finn Holis is a recluse and a drunk who has a past that he dosen’t want to share with anyone, he has kept himself away from people for the last two years and pushed all his friends away,so the last thing he needs is Sawyer pitching up as his neighbour as all he wants is to be left the hell alone to wallow in his own grief.
Sawyer takes no crap from Finn even though he dosen’t want her as his neighbour, but the chemistry between these two grows the more into the story, he starts to thaw towards her more and more.I loved these two characters as they are just two lonely lost souls that come together to disscover that there feelings grow into a beautiful romance. The raw emotion that i fell reading this book was all consuming and it kept all my attention till i devoured it all in one go.
I loved the characters of Critter ,Miller and Josh in this book and can’t wait to read more about these in the next book.I know we will get to see alot more of these loveable characters.
I love T.M.Frazier’s writting where she gets you hooked and hooked hard into her story’s where you fall in love with the Alpha male’s, and Finn is no different he is one hot Alpha male you fall hard for.OMG the ending i was not expecting at all talk about a cliffhanger, now i need to read the next installment Outliers and can’t wait for this to arrive.
Told from a dual POV, the book was steady paced as the scene was set and the characters developed. I rightly guessed some of Caroline Dixon's secrets and connection to Outskirts but once again TM manages to go that one step further in her quest to deliver the knockout blow which you know she is going to do. The ending leaves you gasping for more and book two is going to be a tumultuous ride. I instantly loved all the secondary characters especially Josh and Miller, the banter between the pair had me laughing aloud. As ever TM's wit is woven throughout in her unique way of writing.
The only reason why I haven't given this book 5 stars is that I felt that Finn came out of his self imposed exile far too quickly and Sawyer went from a naïve, god fearing virgin who wasn't allowed to show skin for being banished to hell for all eternity into a woman who quickly learned to embrace her sexuality and was comfortable with stripping off in front of a man and being touched in intimate places. I understand that she knew her way of living was wrong and constantly questioned her fathers ethics but after being brainwashed for 21 years I would expect a little more apprehension.
A captivating must read!
However, I do have one major gripe.
THE GRAMMAR. Grrrrrr!
I found a couple of spelling mistakes and a sentence that didn't even make sense. I overlooked those parts but the grammar ruined the flow for me and I found myself scowling at the page because it's not like the author is short of a few bob after her success as an author.
Sort it out gal or find some other Beta readers.
Apart from the shocking grammar, it was a lovely story of two people helping each other after experiencing personal tragedies.
This is one of those books that you just fly through, where you read from start to finish and don't even stop to empty your bladder. ( Well I didn't anyway. ) Time has no meaning when I read certain Authors and this lady is definitely one of them.
Sawyer wants to escape her life, she makes the brave decision to run and start afresh somewhere new.
Finn is already escaping his life by choice, living alone in his own little hell created to ensure his own misery.
That's the way he likes it.
Then she turns up out of nowhere his new neighbour. He wants her gone because even just a short time in her company has him feeling things he won't admit too.
This is a fantastic story I love Finn he's such a mystery you just need to unravel all his layers.
I adored Sawyer she's such a brave little thing and I loved her innocence too.
I'm so ready for the next part. Outskirts has some secrets that are about to bite it in the Ass. I need to be there when the truths are revealed, because there's some explaining to do. I for one can't wait.
