Ohhh Finn. What can I say but I felt as if my heart was bleeding out for him. I've read quite a few books recently dealing with PTSD following active service, however Jen McLaughlin manages to get deeper into the characters mind set in order to make the reader understand just how devastating it can be not only to the individual but to everyone else around them.

The way Finn views himself, his ever decreasing self-esteem and confidence is a painful reminder that not only are wounds physical but they can have an emotional price steeper than the physical. The cost paid by Carrie as well as Finn.

There is a particular scene in the book that is so emotionally written that you feel as if Jen McLaughlin has not only ripped your heart out but taken great pleasure in stamping all over it as well. For me lies are the worse thing of all to face, having had personal experience of a relationship descending into lies, they undermine everything; leaving you questioning if any aspect of that relationship truly mattered.

Finn and Carrie have a once in a lifetime, all consuming love that even through their darkest times carries them through for each other. Love isn't all hearts and flowers, it requires nurturing and protecting just like anything worthwhile.

You know I adore epilogues and Jen managed to sweep me off my feet with hers.

While Finn and Carrie's story may have reached it's conclusion it doesn't look as if we're saying goodbye completely; the peripheral characters are set to get their own stories. Who else is shouting HOORAY :)

Well it was certainly worth waiting for. The final instalment in the Carrie and Finn story was even better than I was hoping for. It certainly wasn't plain sailing for them and they had there fair share of obstacles to try and overcome, the biggest one being Finn's PTSD. I thought the author handled this issue with compassion and sensitivity.
Although I was sad that this was the final book for Carrie and Finn, your little note and the end made me excited for what's coming next. Thank you for an amazing story and for bringing Carrie and Finn into my life.

Could read about Finn and Carrie forever! A brilliant third book and an ending that was wished for!
You see both characters grow in this book, they grow harder and are not as easily led with their emotions. It's heartbreaking at times and knowing that everyone seems to be against Finn you can't help but feel for him. After months and a series of events they're back where they belong!
Think the story has perhaps been left open for Hernadez and Marie!

There was something about it that just did not make it perfect for me.

I am a little unclear who the audience for this is, because it just did not go deep enough for me, it was soooo close, but just missed the mark.
Still loved Finn and I am a sucker for romance so the relationship did make my heart soar.
The PTSD scenes were really well researched and written and my heart was breaking for Finn and seeing the decline in his self-esteem and his confidence.
There is lots of angst in this book.
The sex scenes were steamy enough.

And this is where it fell down for me - I just did not get the way that Carrie's parents were dictating her life to her and the way that they swung from hating Finn, to tolerating Finn, to accepting and welcoming Finn. He seemed to do little to explain or justify their emotional turn-around.
Some of the extra characters, the author did not go deep enough into them for me either. So I was unsure about the influence they held over the lead characters.

Perhaps the story was too short. Perhaps there was just not enough emotion (with the PTSD element of the storyline aside).

Still a great trilogy and I would really recommend a read.

Absolutely AMAZING!!! All 3 books had me hooked immediately and I read them in a few days. What Carrie and Finn went through is what many people would never have to face in life. Story was touching and heart breaking at times but I was routing all the way for them to have their happy ending and they did. Look forwards to hearing the other characters stories.
