Bought this for my dad as he is thinking of buying an imp again ( he had one in the 1970s)and he loved it. I read it too and now I want one. Good simple history of the car. The most interesting bit for me was the chapter on all the differnt models made. I didn't realise there were so many different types. This is the clearest book I have read on the imp. Lots of good facts on how to spot the different models. The motorsport chapter was great too. I am too young to remember so it was good to read about the rallies in the 1960s. Also the celebrity imp owners section was interesting. Well worth the money, it's been read twice and we'll keep it for reference if either of us does get an imp. 50 years of the imp - this book is a great celebration of an under rated car.

A superb little book. Does exactly what it says in the description: "takes a brief look at the history of the Imp and focuses on its success as well as recording fond memories of Imp owners past and present." Nice concise history, good structure, easy to read and lots of pictures. I particuarly liked the 50 imp memories and reading about imp owners views on the car from around the world, as well as the authors. It's not a technical tomb and doesn't try to be, but it is factual, fun, lighthearted and nostalgic as per the description. Highly recommended.

This was a gift for my son who thought the book was good. Documented the story of the Rootes Group's small car that were produced in Linwood, Scotland - not just the Imp. Would recommend to any other car enthusiast.

You do a lot of silly things when you're twenty, one of the dumbest things I did was to buy a 1966 Singer Chamois as a car to learn to drive in. I was attracted by it's simplicity being rear wheel drive and the insurance was cheap. I'd really wanted the coupe version but couldn't get one so I compromised and bought the posh Chamois rather than the common Imp. Needless to say it lived up to it's reputation for unreliability often letting me down culminating by seizing up with a blown head gasket during my driving test. So with reason I'm not that great a fan of the Imp but this book caught my eye being recommended by Amazon.Mr Coulter's book is a really good entertaining read about the Imp plus the background to the Linwood plant that was built in Scotland to relieve unemployment caused by the running down of the shipyards on Clydeside. I'd really of liked some more detail on the car especially the export versions of the car, perhaps Mr Coulter could be produce an enhanced edition in the future but this little book sheds some light on this rather ignored car which promised so much
