Review

Fabulous book ― Good Housekeeping

Simple food in a way that is undeniably Ottolenghi - in other words beautiful and delicious ― Evening Standard

Simple, proves that taking a less complicated approach to cooking needn’t mean losing out on flavour. Try these new recipes for an easier route to mealtime nirvanaDelicious magazine

[Yotam Ottolenghi’s] latest title, Ottolenghi Simple is a thrill. I particularly adored the pasta with pecorino and pistachios, lamb with almonds and orange blossom, and baked rice with tomato confit and garlic. Many of the recipes have fewer than 10 ingredients and can be made in under 30 minutes. While a lot of cookbooks meet these criteria, few have Mr. Ottolenghi’s far-ranging flair ― Melissa Clark, New York Times

Fantastic. Scintillating flavours . . . dishes you can cook with ease -- Diana Henry ― Sunday Telegraph

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic, easy to use book packed with wonderfully flavourful recipes.
By James Gleeson on 6 September 2018
The latest book from one of the great chefs of London & this time he has given us exactly what we have always wanted, straightforward recipes, packed with flavour, that anyone can prepare.

Just as the name suggests, in SIMPLE, each recipe is focused on only the essential ingredients and cooking techniques required, maximising flavour and respecting your time (& wallet too). I don't always have much time to spend coming up with a meal plan or figuring out what to cook so Ottolenghi has made this easy. Each recipe is coded into categories such as 'Short on time', '10 ingredients or less', 'Make ahead' or my favourite 'Lazy', allowing you to choose something appropriate at a glance.

The book contains a wide variety of recipes from vegetables to fish, meats & of course desserts. I was lucky to have an opportunity to receive a preview copy and can't fault any of the dozen or so recipes I've already tried out. Each one was up to the usual high standards set by the chef however, the lists of ingredients are mercifully short, a change from the previous books as anyone who has ever cooked an Ottolenghi recipe will know. Overall the recipes are quick and easy to prepare but have lost none of their flavour impact in the process. You can go to any of the recipes in the book and know, with confidence, it will impress.

I can't recommend this book highly enough, it's well worth a buy.
