This Man is supposeed to be The Authority on the Wars we endured and survived over the last 120 years. So it pans out as a worthy read but there is something missing very likely due to the wall of censorship covering these sensitive matters. I would have wished for a deal more candour and introspection covering such events as The Desert Campaign.

It is clear today that The Western Desert was a sophisticated well baited trap for the Axis where thousands of highly trained men and countless convoys of decisive war materials which would have changed the course of history in Russia. These priceless assetts were eiter lost at the bottom of the Mediterranean or simply frittered away like the phyrric victory? of the german parachute corps at Crete. No wonder our Generalship was so ..... apparently poor ......

I am sure our generals knew that winning a battle especially before some fateful decision .... some Stalingrad had decided the issue in Russia - was a very very bad idea. It would have been a tragedy for the Allies if Hitler had realised his mistake and pulled the plug on this incredibly foolish errand whilst events in Russia were still in flux. So many contentious events like the War in The Desert were evident during the war it does make one wonder if these expensive flights of fancy were orchestrated in Dresden?. Maybe I would take a look long look at the 20th century as a whole and see exactly the same ?????????? fingerprints after all history just simply doesn't HAPPEN events are managed just like any formula - - - where would we be without e=mc2?

4.0 out of 5 stars Book condition

I am currently reading the book which is one of the best I have read on the subject. However the book condition was poor. It appears to have been stored away for many years and has obviously been read by someone. This has already been discussed and an apology given along with a 15% discount which should have been more really.
