A quality item. Well constructed with lots of compartments including a padded section large enough for a 16" laptop. Overall very light for its size, I am optimistic it will wear well.

As usual with Osprey, excellent kit - this company has never let me down; you get what you pay for - in this case excellence.

This is a very versatile pack I have been using it for everything from a general day use pack to day hikes. Recently took it on a day hike to find swimming holes in northern az. I was able to pack two large towels, two light rain jackets just incase, many smaller items (like sunscreen, etc..) with plenty of room to spare! The many compartments are a great feature and while it does not come with a "dedicated" hydration pocket I find that my 3L camelbak hydration bladder fits perfectly in the inner most compartment. The small organizational pockets are great for any items that you could possibly need to pack as well as the nifty lap top sleeve. I was able to fit two 32oz nalgene water bottles in the side pockets without them falling out.
I ordered the desert khaki however the pack I received is more of a foliage green color which I actually ended up liking!

Plenty of pockets and organizational pockets/dividers
Feels durable
Slim however it expands very well
Compression straps- specifically the lower ones to help hold water bottles in place something their daylite pack does not feature and a lot of negative reviews indicate water bottles fall out easily
Pull tabs for zipper are sturdy and easy to grab/use

Waist belt is flimsy and does not seem to offer much support (however it is detachable which is a plus)
Compression straps- on the top seem to get in the way, I do not foresee myself carrying enough weight with this pack to justify "sinching it down" as I would do with a much larger multi-day pack

Overall I am very pleased with this pack and I would highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect EDC bag! 3 Mar. 2016

I am a huge supporter of Osprey packs. I am NOT affiliated with the company but have grown to love them over the years. This is the fourth bag I have purchased from them and it has taken the role of an every day carry bag. It replaced my 5.11 Tactical Rush bag, which I found was too heavy and cumbersome on long walks.

This particular model from Osprey has ample storage space for your everyday needs and also has enough room to be used as an overnight bag. I'm a sucker for storage compartments in my packs and this one may have the best I've used so far. It also has a large main compartment and a separate padded laptop compartment which has weatherized zippers to keep out unwanted rain drops. This compartment also doubles as a place for a hydration bag with an exit port for your tube (bladder not included). Neon green inside helps to locate things in low light, a much welcomed feature I never had before. A small quick access/sunglass pocket along with two mesh stash pockets on the side, enough room to hold my 32 oz Hydroflask, with compression straps to hold things tighter to the body of the pack. It's integrated chest harness and waist belt for heavier loads makes it feel as if your bag is hardly there.

The only thing I would have made this pack even better would have been a mesh stash pocket on the front of the bag since that's a feature I love on so many of Osprey's packs. Osprey opted to place a grab handle on the front of this one instead which has come in handy when throwing it around a packed car or tight space. Still this wasn't enough for me to take away a star.

All in all I am very happy with my decision to purchase this pack and confident knowing I will get years of use out of a quality Osprey product.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good travelling bag, zippers are smooth and large 31 Aug. 2016

My old laptop bag was starting to look long on the tooth and worn. I needed a new one and saw this Osprey daypack as the newer version of the Comet laptop bag. A bit more expensive but I think it is slightly larger which doesn't hurt. This bag arrived today and it looks great and will even hold my behemoth Thinkpad my employer makes me have. The center pouch is great for things like clothes or DSLR stuff. I'm so looking forward to my next business trip now. The bright blue will help differentiate my bag in the overhead too. The front pouch is great for all the little things like pens and papers and cards. There is a bonus top pouch that fits my glasses with case and has room to spare. The hip strap just fits around my 46" belly so I need to lose more weight. The shoulder straps are well padded and comfortable as is the mesh back keeps me from having sweaty back. Side pockets are huge so the straps around them will help to hold large water bottles in place. Zippers are nice and large and zip smoothly. I haven't used this out in the rain but the pack looks rain/water proof with a flap over the center zip. I got the Super Blue color which is pleasing without being garish.
5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommend this pack for travel, day hikes, and school. 10 Feb. 2017

I bought this for my 6th-grade son as a school backpack. The straps are nicely contoured so even though this is an adult pack, it fit my five-foot two-four-inch son well. My husband and I own an earlier comet model, which we have both traveled extensively with and think is great. The new comet is even better. The older model had a strangely shaped main cavity that went from the laptop sleeve against the back wall to an area forward and under the front pockets, so it could be hard to dig out larger objects that had settled to the bottom. The new one has two separate compartments where the older one had a single one, which makes it both easier to see into the bottom and to haul out what's there. The new one lacks the two narrow pockets on each side of the front handle, where I kept my wallet and passport in the older model, but there's an even better organizer pocket on the front face instead, which, again, is easier to see the contents of and remove them. My son commented on how he was able to pack all of the stuff he needed handy on a recent road trip, where he had never been able to do that with his Under Armour backpack--a pack that had cost more than the Osprey and whose front zippers had failed after about a year of rough use. This pack is also designed much better to keep the weight close to the back, with cinch straps, where most high-volume packs extend so far from the spine that they pull your body out of alignment. This is especially bad on smaller-framed adults and growing kids. I highly recommend this pack for travel, day hikes and school from middle school to graduate.

Just what I was looking for.
I haven't actually used it yet, but I did pack it up and check everything out.
I wanted something that could be used every day for my laptop and accessories without being too large, but also something I could fill with two days worth of stuff for the occasional work trip (use it as a carry on without a personal item).
Size wise it is pretty on the money for height at 19 inches not including handle. The width is a bit understated, closer to 12 inches than 11, but since the back is thinner than other packs I've looked at it would be easier to squish than some others. What I really like about this versus what I could find in my town is that it is deep. It says 11 inches for depth and when packed fully it is right around that .
So I won't have to buy another backpack for a long time, but they definitely have the right idea when making packs, so I'll go for Osprey again.
I was easily able to pack my 14 inch gaming laptop (over an inch thick), tablet, white noise machine (dohm, google it for size), 2 pairs of jeans, 2 tshirts, enough underwear and socks, my bathroom stuff, various office stuff (pens, etc...), headphones. With some space left over, and in a size I should be able to fit under the seat of an airplane if needed.
When I take out the travel stuff I can cinch the sides and it is a bit longer but otherwise not any bigger than my normal laptop bag (less than 4 inches deep).
Build seems good, hard to say for longevity but warranty can't be beat (check Osprey site).
Handle on back should work nicely for grabbing in and out of car, trunk, etc...
I got the Desert Khaki and wasn't sure what it would look like, some pictures look more Khaki/Sand, others look more gray. In the end it is actually green tinted khaki, which is amazing (green is my favorite color, I would've got the bright green, but it was 20 dollars more at the time).
