A very readable book which presents a lot of information concisely and with humour. I’d recommend it highly to anyone who is interested in the ethics and practicalities of animal welfare. Alex Klaushofer's main focus is on the relationship between the foxes and the wildlife rescue service, giving an insight into the day-to-day work of volunteers and staff – even more interesting were the explanations of fox behaviour. I loved the lyrical but unsentimental descriptions, and I'll be looking up some of the other books cited.

This is a little gem of a book. The perfect short read for anyone who has felt a connection with an animal, wild or otherwise. It put me in mind of Ted Hughes's Thought Fox. Delicate, but sure-footed.

Very poor value for money and neither informative nor educational. This told me nothing about foxes, let along orphaned foxes. It was like reading someone's dreary diary and took all of 20 minutes to get through. Save your money and buy a decent book if you want to know anything about foxes.
