2.0 out of 5 stars low level bridge 22 July 2011
By steve - Published on Amazon.com

Had hopes that this would actually be a bridge from grade one to grade two, but the first day my daughter saw it she laughed and when I looked at it I could see why. It was too easy. She flipped to the back of the book and it was still too easy. She's not a genius as far as I know and we'll probably use it in the car a bit, but I thought I would warn others that may be looking at this book. Check inside if possible. I wish I had.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what we needed 21 July 2012
By Kerri - Published on Amazon.com

Judging by the pages we could preview and other reviews we ordered "up" a grade -- using the 1st to 2nd Bridge Book for my son who will be entering 1st grade. (The K-1 book is too too easy). The pages are perforated, so I tear out 5 pages each week and place them in his "homework folder" and they are due to me on Fridays before we get an ice cream cone. He keeps the folder in the car and gets quite a bit done there. There are some things he needs help on because they weren't covered yet, but he is able to grasp them easily after a brief explanation from me(like identifying a noun or compound word or less than/greater than symbols). They can be done in 10 minutes/day, even with some teaching of new concepts, and he is making sure he doesn't lose any skills this summer as well as getting "ahead" a little. Our summer program involves this book, Doch sight words the school sent home, and he reads a chapter a night from a Magic Tree House book. Perfect amount of work for the summer months.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Workbook for the Summer 17 Jun. 2010

This books is well designed. Each page of work is labeled--Day 1, Day 2 etc. This helps to keep my daughter motivated and she knows when she can stop working. Also, the work is short and in the beginning it reviews a lot of work she did in the first grade.

Recommend this to parents who want to keep their kids minds going, but don't have a lot of time to do it. The pages can be done in as little as ten minutes. I like the page labeling--my daughter knows when she forgets to do a page a day--then she can do as many as she likes to catch up.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good summer book, perhaps a little too easy 21 July 2011

I like this bridge book, but not as much as the 3-4 grade one. This one seems a little bit too easy for an incoming 2nd grader. It is still great for keeping them working and utilizing old skills though.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Review 2 Aug. 2012

I homeschool two children. When you homeschool and your kids forget information over the summer, you aren't losing just time, but blood, sweat, and tears! These books are excellent and right on grade level for my children. The exercises take 20 minutes or so but it is worth every second to see my children building their skills instead of losing them over the summer. The subjects are diverse and my kids don't even complain about the work because most of the exercises are appealing. My children also enjoy the quick fact pull outs at the end of the day. My daughter loves putting the completion sticker on her work at the end of the daily review and I enjoy that the days are numbered.

The cost is perfect, but these books are priceless. We will buy the next books in 2013.
