This cable is great, the picture difference is huge compared to AV. It won't upscale your image but if you enable Ntsc video modes on your soft modded or hard modded xbox you can enable 720p and 1080i output.
The output resolution is game dependant so don't expect 720p or 1080i on all games, I leave mine at 720p as a sweet spot as very few games output 1080i anyway. Either way the image is always going to be much sharper than AV cables.
Only negative I have noticed is the image is a little darker, few more crushed blacks but nothing that can't be sorted by adjusting the tvs contrast and brightness a little.
All in all I'm very impressed and would recommend as a HDMI option for your xbox without having to open it up and soldering in a more expensive hardware mod. This cable is a fine option at a decent price and as a added bonus doesn't require external power.

Overall I would say it is a good buy. For the price and the ease of use and certainly compared to an OSSC or other solution it would be hard to find something better. Initially I had an XBOX official scart cable which I used with a scart to HDMI converter but the picture was fuzzy and too dark so gave this a go.On SOME games (I do stress some) like Silent Hill 2 or Obscure I get odd purple vertical lines appearing on the screen which was a bit annoying. I tried different HDMI cables but no change. However when playing 2D games or some other 3D games it was perfect and a brilliant picture. I tried setting the XBOX to Pal 50 / 60 but no change and swapping HDMI ports didn't help, changing aspect ratio. To be honest unless you are sat right next to the TV it isn't something you will really notice. It's worth the money.

I've attached some images of Beyond Good and Evil running at 480p on a 4k 65" tv, that should give you a good indication of quality. Running something like Crash Nitro Kart (which outputs natively at 720p in NTSC mode) looks about as good as a modern game frankly. Bear in mind only games supporting different native outputs will work, and it needs to be in NTSC, and you need to then set the allow output in the original dashboard. If you're on a standard not-softmodded PAL xbox then you're stuck with Pal 50hz mode and 480p output.

First up - this thing is brilliant for the money. It's nearly as good as a GCVideo (for the gamecube). The adapter uses the component output pins rather than the composite ones, what this means is that if you enable NTSC and HD Outputs from the xbox dash (needs to be a Softmodded OG Xbox) then you can output via this adapter at 480p, 576p and even 720p and 1080p on the few games that support that.By Amazon Customer on 18 February 2021
