This is a box set containing five studio albums each of which contains additional material. Cheap Trick seem to be largely overlooked and greatly underestimated. Most people will know them principally for "I Want You To Want Me" and "Surrender" but I have discovered that they are a band with many more killer cuts than that. "You're All Talk", "High Roller" and "Love Comes A Tumblin' Down" are great examples.

There's something here for most rock fans with some deft guitar work, amusing lyrics and surprisingly a hint of British rock influences. At this price you're getting a good deal with 63 tracks including some live versions and alternate takes which are great. This is a perfect introduction to Cheap Trick if you're not overly familiar with their music and a nice box set for fans.

A 5CD box with some of Cheap Trick's best work ever.

It contains their self-titled debut - an album rated as a favourite by many of their fans thirty years after its release.

The 'In Color' and 'Heaven tonight' albums (as with the others, sold here in expanded form) are also major classics by the band - so good that they have never managed to get away from playing songs from each album in their shows even today.

The 'All shook up album', produced by George Martin, was and absolute corker - the last by the acknowledged 'classic' Cheap Trick line up for 7 years, as bassist Petersson went AWOL to make an album that didn't sell with his (now ex) wife and to ponder on the foolishness of leaving the band.

Not that 'Next position please' - from a few years later and with the excellent Jon Brant doing a great job on bass - the last album in this box, is missing a single thing. Not even the absent Petersson. A crisp production from Todd Rundgren and a really superb set of songs make this another great album.

The box set is a total steal at the budget price it's offered at and just about every note on it is solid gold. You can't go wrong with this one.

Power Pop at it's finest and most definitive.

Here you get five good/great Cheap Trick records packaged as vinyl-replicas.

They are all remastered and contain bonus tracks. Some great, some good.

"Cheap Trick", "In Color" and "Heaven Tonight" are all classic, five star albums. I love them!
"Next Position Please" is a four star album. I think it's very good, though not as good as their 70's albums.
"All Shook Up" is a three star album. A few great songs, but most of them are underwelming compared to their previous records. The bonus tracks makes it a bit better though.

"Next Postition Please" and "All Shook Up" should have been replaced by "At Budokan" and "Dream Police". That would have made this box the perfect introduction to Cheap Trick.

Still, this is an excellent place to start.

Good news have surfaced too, as another "Original Album Classics" will be released on January 9th, containing five other Cheap Trick records, including "At Budokan" and "Dream Police".

For a while, Chaep Trick were one of the biggest and best bands in the world. They had the happy knack of combining concise rock songs with witty lyrics and irresistible choruses wrapped up in a great visual package of two pretty boys and two geeks. They were also a killer live band in their day. Of the five albums contained on this excellent value mini-box set, their self-titled debut is probably the best, although there is some very good stuff on all of them. Cheap Trick still exist, and still make good records, but if I'm being honest, the early stuff was the best. It's all good.
