This is a new, larger, stronger built version of the extremely popular Orient Mako. The Mako II has a larger case size (46mm), an improved and beefier bracelet, a larger uni-directional bezel with easier to read numbers, and larger hour markers that are treated with luminous material. The second hand is now moon-shaped and luminous to help let you know your watch is operating under water and in the dark. Inside is the "bullet-proof" Orient 21-jewel automatic (self-winding) movement. Features a screw-down crown and case back. Case: Solid stainless steel, both polished and brushed, 46mm (w/o crown), 13mm thick. Band: Solid stainless steel, deployant closure with pushbutton release, 22mm. Water Resistance: 20 ATM. Warranty: 1 Year.

About Orient Watch:

- All movements (the timing device) are made in Japan.
- Producing our own movements ensures the highest quality and speaks to Orient’s true passion, watchmaking.
The Mako XL
The Mako XL was created as a response to the community’s request for a larger Mako watch. As the name suggests, the Mako XL is an upsized Mako, measuring 3mm wider (44.5mm) and a third of a millimeter thicker (13.3mm). Rather than recreate the popular Mako design on a larger canvas, the design was tweaked, with bar hour markers and a 60-unit scale bezel that was devoid of a lume pip. The spear-shaped hour and minute hands and lollipop seconds hand are also hallmarks of the design. Above all, it maintains the signature diver features, including a unidirectional diver-style bezel, 200m of water resistance, strong lume, and a screwed case back, to name a few.
- Automatic, Self-winding Movement
- 200 Meter Water Resistance
- Unidirectional Bezel

The watch oozes quality and class. It's 44mm but wears slightly smaller so don't think it maybe to big for you.
The quality is outstanding . From the sundial face to the thickness of the strap.
Highly polished and looks a million bucks.
Another winner from the orient watch company.
The watch is great quality, adjusted the strap for me it was easy but I’ve done several, I will definitely purchase from this dealership again
I paid £170 - At £116 it's a steal.

First and foremost, this watch is just one of the best looking timepieces in this price range you'll ever see. It's handsome as all get out. It's a beautiful piece for the price, and will go well with any attire. It's massively elegant and massively sporty at the same time, large enough to match today's trends but not "ridiculous large" like so many other watches. It's big but it sits well and looks right. The hour markers, handset, and bezel just mesh well together, and the beveled caseback makes the watch look a lot thinner than it is.
Beyond that, it's the real deal as a casual diver. I've had this on extended swim/snorkel sessions in all kinds of conditions and naturally it performed every bit as expected, demonstrating the usual Orient quality.
And that's the final thing—with Orient's family of workhorse in-house movements that are legendary for going years and years and years with accuracy and nary a hiccup, this thing can be expected to run and run and run without service for years. And when it finally does need service, the fact that there are millions of Orient movements out there and a ready supply of parts, combined with just how lovely and rugged this watch is, mean that you won't hesitate to service it.
There aren't many pieces in this price range that are worth "passing down" to the kid(s), but this might just be one of them. I have a bunch of watches, but this is the kids' favorite, and I can see why. It looks great, is instantly recognizable, is solid, is simple, and tends to come with us whenever we're doing "water activities" stuff, where it succeeds with grace and aplomb.
----solid movement that will last a long time
---High polished case. Dial markers are polished as well.
---looks and feels very high quality
---Screw down crown
--Looks great on a NATO strap...which i put on right out of the box.
--Bracelet seems great for me at this price point (but I'm a NATO fan so I won't use it too much anyway)
-Movement is made in japan! =)
-I wish the date pusher (in the 2 o'clock position) was a screw down as well like the original mako. this makes water resistance possibly lower.
-Not ISO certified
-Cased in China
-bezel movess a bit too easy for my tastes. (also there is some play with the bezel)
-Mine gains "30 seconds" a day........just not acceptable....maybe I got a bad one. =(
-There is play in the bezel, which is very disappointing to me, even at this price point.
----MAKO XL VS SEIKO SKX007
-If I had to pick between this or the seiko skx007 I'd pick the skx007....but I love them both a lot.
-Lume not even close to as good as the seiko.
-Oddly the hands have better lume than the hour markers
-Not really a true divers watch.......I wouldn't dive with this, but the seiko I would dive with AND its ISO certifited ....(if that means anything to you..lol)
---- love this watch a lot, orient just makes great watches that are reliable, high quality,, ect
this one really has the orient look and feel that I love.
making orient one of the best value automatics in the business for the price.
******************I give it 3 stars because of the bezel play, gaining 30+ seconds a day, and not good lume.*****************
.......other wise is a great watch and I would still recommend it if you like the style.
The watch looks great--even better than in pictures. It's a big watch, but the band/case ratio makes it look smaller than it is. The bracelet also doesn't taper, so it's beefy and heavy. The polished and brushed stainless surfaces of the case and bracelet look great, and the overall fit and finish is wonderful for the price. I especially appreciate how well the bracelet "drapes" (very fluid joints). The bracelet does have folded end links, and the clasp is a little cheap (it stays closed rather well however). The bezel is a little on the large side, but it looks great (it's the part that shines in person). It has 120 clicks and is a bit stiff (I see that as a positive) and has no back play. The lume is OK (I expected bad, but it's a bit better than mediocre). I'd prefer the face of the Ray (dots) as well as the hands, but I like the size and color, so it is what it is.
The movement doesn't hack and requires an added button for easy date changes, but it tells good time and has a rather fluid (for 6 bps) second hand. The day and date both are well aligned. All in all, I'd get a Seiko Baby Tuna if it were the same price (Sumo too, but it's always more), but I see this as a step up from a Monster, but for the price this is an amazing watch.
I'll update this review as needed (can't speak of reliability yet), but for now it's treating me very well. Shop for deals, as your patience will pay off.
