5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Book 27 July 2011
By Girl Friday Reader - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Why should you buy this book?

Because 90% of the book is filled with pictures of bedrooms, bathrooms, sitting rooms, kitchens, great halls, staircases, drawing rooms, ballrooms, and so on from the 1890s, 1900s, and 1910s. Cooper takes us through the changes in interior decoration of this period via the wonderful photographs taken by Bedford Lemere for private clients. No longer will you wonder about the dimensions of the ballroom in a London townhouse, or the proper decoration of a bedroom, nor will you be left in the dark about the interiors of such period dramas as Downton Abbey or The Buccaneers. Plus, writers and readers of historical fiction will now have an image to fix upon when a dinner is described, or characters walked about a greenhouse. An must-have resource for anyone interested in this subject or the time period.
