I loved Ms Chase's previous books so I was excited to dive straight into this new series. I certainly wasn't disappointed.

The sex scenes have been well written and are hot. They are frantic cupboard-sex type sex as Nina is actually getting fruity with married man Devin. The first time they are together in the book is on a night out where Devin's wife is in the main room and they sneak off for a bit of hanky panky! Yes it's a book that contains cheating.

Devin's marriage is something of an enigma. There are reasons he can't/won't leave her but they haven't been explored yet.

Nina is obsessed with Devin or more to the point, is obsessed with being bonked by him. She thinks she loves him but then she knows he won't leave his wife and so makes her decide to break from him. This proves to be very difficult as Devin isn't the kind of man you just walk away from.

Nina manages to meet another man and she starts to explore life with him and I think he is good for her. I like him and he is such an improvement on Devin. Devin just treated her like a sex object to be bonked when he felt like it.

There are secrets, there are unexplained things that seem important, more to Devin than Nina. This book will not only make you feel like w@nking, but will also make you wonder what the heck is going on with Devin and what has he done!

I love the style of writing that Ms Chase does. She calls a co-ck a co-ck and there's absolutely no flowery or forgiving prose in her books, and I love her for that.

I liked the setting. I didn't take to the self-absorbed heroine.
Even in a free novella, I dislike unresolved endings - when the writing just stops and no aspects of the plot are resolved. The sex lacked something too, I didn't find it terribly erotic at all. Certainly not what the blurb promised.
Again, I'm slightly confused about the disparity between the gushing reviews and my own experience.
Additional note: the quotes at the start of the chapters are in a font which is almost impossible to read.

ARC from Netgalley for an honest review

The book felt like an extract - I knew it was book one of the series, but I still expected a complete storyline within the book one!

Steamy bits are steamy, but main character comes across very superficial: I was ok to overlook the self made millionaire vagueness, but despite rags-to-reaches musings that I think were meant to convey depth, I did not get it.

The two men dilemma did not come across believable either.

Sorry, I did not like this book at all...

This book starts as it means to go on. It's highly erotic and at times the sex scenes may be a little much for some, but personally I loved that about it. Yes there is a quite a lot of sex and if I met Nina in real life, I would be thinking something along the lines of serial sex addict, but quite frankly, for such a short read (I probably read the book in around two hours) there is a brilliant story and it's also well written.

I must also point out that anyone who has read the author's Sexual Awakenings series, there is a slight connection, but it can be read separate to that, although this series does follow that one in the timeline sense.

Nina became, almost overnight, a multi millionaire. She had wealth beyond her wildest dreams, but she just didn't seem to fit the world she found herself in. That is until she meets and falls in love with Devin, but even he wasn't a man to be trusted.

In this book Devin appears to have very few morals. The fact that he is cheating on his wife with Nina. Although it seems to get around that by the fact he despises his wife, who is really not a nice woman and it appears she has some sort of hold over him.

Nina is done with Devin and there is one man who might just help her get over him. Aiden.

Now unlike some love triangle books, I ended this one not actually having a preference for either man and loving them both equally. Yes, Devin was completely flawed, but deep down there is something in him that makes me think he's not as bad as he's portrayed. Aiden seems perfect, but will that last?

By the end of this book I will admit I immediately had to dive straight into the next book.

Anyway, a brilliant start to a series.

Gifted from Netgalley for an honest review – 31/2 to 4 stars
Started off with a bang (I just loved that first line), dipped a little while we got Nina’s history and then it managed to come back into its own with the appearance of Aiden. I understand this is the first of three and I do think that the first always serve to show you the history of characters. This was no exception. By the time I got to the end of it I felt like I was just really getting into the story. I do want to know what’s going to happen next so that makes it a good read in my book. I have to make mention of the cover, that in itself is a selling point for sure, it really is beautifully artistic and it really compliments the title.
So in this you have 3 characters to contend with. Firstly Devin, the character that is being painted as the antagonist for all that Nina feels and how she lives her life. Then there’s Nina, a bitter divorcee, caught with someone’s husband and trying to find her way in the world of the rich. And onto Aiden, who sweeps Nina off her feet initially. I find him the most interesting so far as he’s an unknown; Angelica doesn’t give us much to go on where he is concerned. And that mouth…I got a bit of a shock when he spoke with his filthy tongue, I wasn’t expecting it. After Devin being quite dominant I was kind of thinking Aiden would be softer. He is a little but not where it’s mattering to Nina. This could definitely be a problem in the future but also a good thing. The reader is deluded if they thing that Devin is bowing out gracefully and quietly. I’m also thinking that Devin and Aiden have history which is going to play into the story in a very big way.
The writing seems to be spot on, and the descriptive text is useful to paint good imaginative pictures. You have your steamy bedroom scenes in here too but they are not over the top nor are they at all unbelievable. A decent story with an engaging plot and well-rounded characters. I’m recommending and moving onto book 2.
