The perfect home cinema choice
Creating a super-sized cinematic experience in the comfort of your home is simple with the new HD141X projector. Bringing together Full high definition 1080p resolution with 3,000 ANSI lumens brightness creates an incredibly immersive experience. Incorporating BrilliantColor multi-colour processing technology from Texas Instruments brings stunning, vibrant colour to your screen. Colours display vividly, whilst darker areas of the image do not suffer with low contrast dullness and have deep black levels that add a true sense of depth and a remarkable amount of shadow detail. Lighter scenes are not compromised, with strikingly bright images visible even with ambient light in the room. Boasting a high 3,000 ANSI lumen brightness and 23,000:1 contrast ratio, the HD141X produces exceptionally clear images with perfectly balanced colours. This gives incredible light and shade detail which is only possible with a high contrast projector resulting in crystal clear definition, making it perfect for watching big screen movies and playing action-packed games.
The HD141X will give you long-lasting image quality whilst eliminating costly and time-consuming maintenance. This is due to the filter-free design which will reduce the ownership costs so you have nothing to worry about. The projector chassis has an attractive, sleek, black finish and is one of the smallest 1080p projectors on the market, also making it one of the most portable. The tiny frame and the minuscule 2.45kg weight of the HD141X means you can have a truly immersive and cinematic experience almost anywhere which makes sharing a film or watching the big game with friends even easier. This is an advantage exclusive to DLP technology, which is traditionally small and lightweight, compared to other technologies. The built-in 10W speakers provide a fantastic audio experience, eliminating the need for bulky external speakers. Despite the small dimensions of the projector the level of audio quality that is created is exceptional, making dialogue, narration and commentary clear. The optional carry bag is a great way of transporting your projector, with separate compartments for cables and wires. The HD141X provides a seamless 3D experience. All 3D technology is built into the unit and requires no additional adapters – you just link it to a 3D source via HDMI. The 3D-sync port can connect an Optoma ZF2100 System – required for 3D viewing.
Stay in control with MHL technology and extensive connectivity
MHL technology allows smartphones, tablets and other portable devices to be connected directly to your projector by a single cable, meaning that streaming content to project in your living room couldn’t be easier. It will turn your HD141X into a smart projector allowing you to mirror your screen and access online content, apps, movies, games and photos stored on your mobile device. You will even be able to control your device with the remote. The two HDMI v1.4a digital inputs are a big benefit of the HD141X. Games consoles, Blu-ray players or digital television set top boxes can be simultaneously connected via HDMI, making switching between sources literally the push of a button, as opposed to awkward manual switching. Along with other standard video inputs, twin D-Sub PC ports can also be useful for gamers and those connecting from a laptop or PC.
- Standard accessories: AC Power Cord, Back-lit IR remote control with batteries, Quick Start Card, CD user manual, warranty card

This is my first projector and unusually I took the risk of buying it with no reviews posted - I'm so pleased I did. If you are on the cusp of getting one... then just do it. You only live once and its well worth the money. It'll blow you away. Get it from Amazon - thats best price by far - it sometimes says 2-3 week delivery but every other day it seems to get more stock !
It was either this or the BenQ W1070. I went for the Optoma because the throw characteristics better suited my room setup and because of the many good reviews for the previous model - the HD131xe. There are more than 25 5* reviews on Amazon.com. Use this link to check your throw distance against screen size: [...] Google ProjectorCentral dot com and select Optoma HD141x (sorry Amazon removes the link)
I'm using a 106" glass bead screen (16:9) 3.8m from the projector, which is ceiling mounted - it fills the screen perfectly with no zoom.
Whats in the box? Very brightly backlit (blue) remote, 2xAAA batteries, UK plug, European plug, quick start page + manual on disc, projector. There is no HDMI cable. There is no lens cover - but apparently a Pringles lid works!
Whats the build quality like? Good enough. Its much lighter than I thought it would be - only ~2.4kg. Its about the size of a regular breakfast cereal box. Its piano black on top (protected with a peelable film) and whilst it looks good overall it is a wee bit on the plasticky side. That said it really is a non issue if you are ceiling mounting ('cos you'll only see the good side and its beyond close up scrutiny). The focus wheel feels precise, but the zoom lever feels a bit vague.
Is the fan noisy? No.Read more ›
Hooked it all up & fired up Aliens on Blu Ray once the sun went down. WOW. One of my favourite films ever crystal clear at 110", and for less than I'd have got a decent 50" TV for. Ordered some cheap DLP link glasses & a copy of Jurassic Park 3D to test out the 3D mode on this & it works perfectly. As good as if not better than any 3D cinema release I've seen. No ghosting or crosstalk whatsoever.
Yeah, there are drawbacks. You need to check that the throw distance will work for the space you have, don't just buy a screen & expect to be able to point the projector at it & be done. The noise isn't an issue for me, in Eco mode (which is still nice & bright) it kicks out about the same noise as a laptop fan. Barely noticeable & certainly not enough to be annoying. You also need to have some control of ambient light, a bright room with light coming in will wash out the image so it's not something that will generally replace your TV. Once it's nice & dark though, there's no better way to enjoy movies at home.
Photos are of the Alien Blu Ray on a 106" DIY blackout cloth screen.
Several people have mentioned the lack of lens cap, the red lid from a Betty Crocker icing tub fits perfectly and costs under £3.00
We have a very bright room so first photo shows a still of a film taken late afternoon, with sun streaming through the curtains. The second is after sunset and you can see how much the contrast has increased. Blackout blinds or lined curtains would be best but the picture is sharp and clear, even in daylight and I thoroughly recommend this projector. Only improvement I would make would be an optical connection on the projector, rather than the 3.5mm connection for external sound, but there are ways around this so am giving it five stars.
The adjustable wheels for focus and zoom at the top have to be played with a bit at first, once set ur good to go.
2 HDMI ports allows me to connect my Mac and my ps4 and switch between them as I please. Currently it is 8ft away from the wall sitting on a cabinet projecting roughly 115inch screen . Built in speaker is a bonus no surround sound but still very clear and can go loud as u like.
Definitley worth buying without a doubt 4*s for me the 5th will be if it lasts me 5 years plus.
