DLP projectors from Optoma
Optoma projectors combine superior DLP image processing technologies with high quality engineering and innovation to deliver crystal clear images with high reliability.

You will see it looks great.
To be clear this is not a TV replacement unless you like sitting in the dark, it is a cinema for your home and it genuinely gives that cinema experience. Two friends have seen it and both are considering buying. I paid just under one thousand pounds for my unit and I believe it is well worth it.
Please note: This review is biased because I am directly comparing it. Some of these points may not be as apparent without direct comparison.
I was expecting the difference between the ML750 and the Aukey to be great given the supposed difference in spec of 700 lumens and 15000:1 contrast ratio vs 200 and 1000:1. If anything this projector made me realise how good the Aukey actually was and how mediocre the Optoma is. I'll explain why:
- Focus: I simply could not get the Optoma as focussed as the Aukey. It's impossible, the lens really is worse quality or something. The focus isn't "bad" but the difference is immediately noticeable on text and faces.
- Contrast: Yes the contrast is definitely better, there is definitely more detail in the shadows and highlights, however, oddly, in the mid range the contrast of the Aukey seemed better, possibly due to the better focus.
- Hue: The Optoma has a green hue that I just could not get rid of. It's not major and I'm sure once you're used to it then it wouldn't be an issue, but stuff that is supposed to be white really does come out a sepia green.
- Adjustment: You get brightness and contrast, that's it! There are different modes that give you slightly different picture hues but "Bright" is useless, stuff comes out more green. Photo and PC mode do also allow you to change "White intensity" but I don't find whites to be that white so you want this on full anyway.Read more ›
After searching a lot on Google and youtube for the best projectors available in the market, we decided to go with this one.
It is an amazing product. We do not have a tv in our house and instead use this to watch everything from videos to movies to pictures.
It doesn't make any noise while it is running. We use it for 4-5 hours everyday at one stretch and it doesn't show any signs heating problems. It works brilliantly even in light. The picture quality is great, crisp, bright, and sharp. I love using this product esp. the screen size it can project. I keep it very near to the wall and still I am able to watch my videos on more 40 inches screen.
Otherwise, picture quality is amazing, why any mug would spend £500 on a 50" screen when they could be merking people willy nilly on call of Duty on a 100" image is beyond me.
I have found that it works best with an HDMI input. I have tried the USB and it is a bit hit and miss. It seems to need very specific versions of files. The on board audio is awful, but for the size I expected no more. I have found using a media player with HDMI works better tan direct USB. I have films on a USB hard drive and they would not work directly. I suspect MPEG2 incompatibility as the manual only mentions MPEG1. MP4 is as someone else said a bit hit and miss, although many worked. I have used a DVD player direct with HDMI and that is fine. I am wondering whether or not a USB DVD player would work?
The VGA cable supplied works well from a computer. Great for watching online movies off YouTube and BBC iplayer and similar. I cannot tell the difference between HDMI and VGA.
If using HDMI it is better if the audio can be sent from the source rather than than the projector. The absence of an audio socket on the projector is a bit daft. It is attached to the VGA lead which plugs into a weird universal socket. However it does work.
Blue Tooth would be useful. I bought a cheap blue tooth transmitter, plug into the audio output on the projector cable or the source and found it works fine.
I have dry the presentation bit, but not needing it I can only say I am not sure how well it works. This machine seems to be aimed at the portable business market but actually works best as a portable movie projector!
I give it 5 stars as it fulfills my specification requirements better than expected. However, check out the online manual before buying. While online manuals might not be everyone's cup of tea they do mean that all details can be checked.

Excellent image quality, the screen from enormous as we keep the project 1.5m from the wall. If you have a pure white, matte wall, don't buy the screen. Read morePublished 13 days ago by Artur
