It is what it is, a lighting device that is what you pay for, an easy traveling accessory which provide a beauty dish like look. This is not the greatest beauty dish you will ever use, but i travel a lot and this flat packs and can easily be packed and transported. Like ever tool, it gives what the user takes from it.

Nice idea, is easily assembled but you can't use it as illustrated because it covers the camera lens!

As a remote it works well.

I like the nice soft light this emits but it's very fiddly to assemble and pretty flimsy, tricky to use outside with even a hint of wind.

1.0 out of 5 stars When you pay little you get exactly what you pay for 14 Dec. 2011

I was hoping that I could find a beauty dish cheaper than the $200-$300 versions that are sold via the web. In theory, this is a great concept. The very first time I put it together one of the snaps broke that holds the dish in shape. Very poor design, poorly made and executed. Save your money and get something better, this will not stand up to any meaningful use without breaking, especially because it has to be put together each time you go to use it. Too bad, but I would not recommend this to anyone. I returned it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Promising but in the end, no good unless rigged 15 Dec. 2011

I concur with the prior reviewer about this dish. It was promising in that it offered portability and actually seemed to be well designed. However, one of my snaps also broke and I didn't even have a chance to use it!

If it were to be kept as an assembled unit, and possible the seams/joints taped, then it might actually hold up with careful handling...just don't disassemble once put together. It won't look pretty, but it will work.

Therefore, with careful handling, reinforced with tape, the unit actually will suffice for a low-end, cheap, light duty beauty dish. However, I decided I didn't want a piecemeal looking beauty dish and returned the item.

I will probably end up with the conventional metal beauty dish and expect to spend up to $160 for those ePhoto branded or Fotodiox 28" dish with flash bracket.

1.0 out of 5 stars Complete and utter junk! 19 Dec. 2012

This is total crap...don't waste your cash, having purchased this and then having to duc tape the crap out of it to get it to stay together it proved to be the most useless beauty dish you could use. You would be better off cupping your hands in front of the flash than using this junk.....DO NOT BUY

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheaply Made 13 Jan. 2012

This item arrived today and while trying to put it together, one of the snaps broke. This item is very cheaply made. I am retuning it tomorrow. If the item had better snaps maybe could be a cheap option for a Beauty Dish.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good 15 Oct. 2013

It is a little hard to put together, and even harder to keep together, however the modified lighting is just as you would expect from a 23 inch beauty dish. I think with a little modifying this will be a great item.
