There's a canon of must-read books to boost your creative juices and inspire you to take the world on - head first.
This book is up there alongside your Paul Arden, George Lois, Howard Gossage and David Ogilvy.
Like all great mentors he reduces the devilishly complex into something seeming like the bleedin' obvious.
Take his insight on advertising: "How do you take something very complicated and reduce it to something very simple, while retaining the core truth?"
He speaks with authoritative knowledge and experience, while still retaining a worldview of a bloke from Barking.
Go read this - and take your world on - head first.

This book is so good I had to create an English amazon account, simply so I could buy the kindle version and not have to wait for it to be delivered to NZ

I now have all Daves books and only wish I could write with his fluidity of style

A true copywriter, more is conveyed in short sharp chapters than pages and pages of other books

Absolute kick ass, can't wait for the physical book to arrive

Daniel Daines-Hutt

The pages use an unfamiliar layout I grew to appreciate as I worked through the book. The book provides short, entertaining and thought-provoking case studies / anecdotes - most of which were new to me. I thoroughly enjoyed it - and have since ordered one of his earlier books. Ive also checked him out on Youtube, where he is equally perceptive. He has an "east end barrow-boy" Lord Sugar style rather than the Mad Men sharply-suited image I had anticipated based on the book. That's not intended to be a criticism - just goes to show that you never know.

Excellent piece of work and a brilliant read for anyone in the marketing business or just looking for inspiration far from the maddening crowds.
Well recommend reading, there are some valuable lessons in general life to be had.

I love the way Dave Trott writes, his short punchy straight to the point sentences make it such an easy read.

Brilliant.

At first, I was kind of disappointed. I thought: "It's just a collection of stories, not much for a 'Master class in creative thinking'".

But then... it hit me. As I read through the stories, I got insight after insight.

Through the book, you learn creative processes, you start shifting your perspective, you start challenging your assumptions.

In the end, I devoured the whole book and filled up pages of notes. Notes that I revisit when I need to tackle problem creatively.

One Plus One Equals Three is a master class in creative thinking after all.

Dave Trott's unique and snappy style of writing brings to life a collection of weird and wonderful stories from the worlds of advertising, sport, warfare and business, and much more besides.

Essential reading for absolutely anybody who has to solve problems and wants a foot up.

Was lucky enough to see Dave speak recently, making his points with crystal clarity on an old OHP.

The points made in this rapid fire collection of anecdotes are at one moment similarly low tech and at the next more relevant, interesting and inspiring than the iPhone11will ever be.

I've read and discussed a story out of this book each day since I got it with my two young sons. Now THAT'S an education and Dave an inspiration. I wonder if he'll help us #inspiranation.

I haven't the attention for a long read, so Dave's short, sharp anecdotes are ideal. Had the pleasure of hearing Dave speak a few years ago, now read his 3 books too - loved them all.
