Review

One-Minute Mystic is the Aesop's Fables of the modern adult world...a funny, clever and thought-provoking little gem. (Wellbeing Magazine 2010-01-01)

There is more value in one page of this book than many hundreds of pages of pseudo-spiritual wisdom in some books. Rarely does a book as good as this come across my path. (High Spirit Magazine 2010-04-01)

Pause for thought by dipping into Simon Parke's collection of mini meditations.

(Psychologies Magazine 2010-05-01)

...a wonderful collection of mini meditations. (Kindred Spirit Magazine 2010-07-01)

This is a fun, easy to access book that takes the quick route rather than long meditations and week-long retreats, but still manages to provoke deep inner thoughtfulness. (Paradigm Shift)

From the Back Cover

Wake up your mind and soul with a mini meditation!

Need a break from the mayhem of the modern world? Sometimes all you need is to give yourself permission to pause. You're not looking for easy answers or quick fixes; but you haven't given up on truth - truth that is deep enough to hold and transform the realities you live with every day. So why not try these simple steps? Simon Parke draws on his popular column in the Daily Mail to open you to wide doors of awareness and possibility.

Wherever you are, and whatever your circumstances - it only takes a minute!

Daily Mail columnist Simon Parke spent twenty years as a priest in the Church of England, and three years working in a supermarket, stacking shelves and contemplating the meaning of life. He has written extensively, producing award-winning scripts for TV and radio, and a collection of novels. Simon runs, leads retreats, meets with people looking for a new way in their life, and follows the beautiful game.

I don't usually enjoy this kind of book (loosely described as 'self-help') but this one makes me laugh and makes me cry.

Having only recently discovered this brilliantly amusing and unconventional writer, I am now devouring every work of his I can get my hands on. Simon Parke was a priest in the Church of England for 20 years, then spent three years working in a supermarket, and now writes full-time.

His books give a fresh slant to everything: religion, love, working and being an author, therapist and speaker. He has preached in St Paul's cathedral: one observer wrote that 'you don't sleep in Simon Parke's sermons'!.

These books range from the hilarious to the tear-jerking (sometimes almost in the same sentence). I like books that move you to tears; it does show that they are 'getting' to you.

Simon's outspoken views on love and sex makes this (and all his books) a riveting read.
