Product Description

One Mind is a magnum opus-delightfully inspiring and exciting-while also satisfying the requirements of rigorous scientific inquiry. Larry Dossey is a master storyteller, physician and critical thinker. And I love this book. (Christiane Northrup, MD author of Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom and The Wisdom of Menopause)

One Mind is a compelling, gripping, altogether convincing book about the nature of Mind and Consciousness and the deeply important role they play in our lives and our world. Do yourself a favour and start reading it right away! (Ken Wilber author of Integral Life Practice)

Larry Dossey is a pioneer who keeps finding new frontiers. With One Mind, his merging of science and wisdom has come full circle, as Dossey makes the case for ancient spiritual teachings about the one and the many. I'm happy to embrace Larry as a kindred spirit. (Deepak Chopra author of Spiritual Solutions)

Dr Larry Dossey's excellent book One Mind lays the groundwork for the coming global awakening of consciousness and helps map out the path toward it. Dr Dossey makes an eloquent case that such consciousness is, indeed, One Consciousness. His is the science of 2012 and beyond. (Eben Alexander, MD author of Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon's Journey into the Afterlife)

I have lived what Dr Larry Dossey writes about. I know and can prove consciousness is nonlocal. I have used nonlocal knowing to make diagnoses and help make therapeutic decisions for my patients. I have learned to live by my experience and not by limited beliefs. (Bernie Siegel, MD author of A Book of Miracles and Faith, Hope & Healing)

This beautifully rendered masterwork from one of our most cherished sages of the spirit makes an eloquent and indisputable case for human consciousness as a singular entity. The sheer weight of mind-boggling evidence and compelling stories-from near-death experience and reincarnation, to creativity, ESP and crowd intelligence-demolishes the current 'mind equals brain' theory of modern science and expands our perception of how the world works. One Mind is Dr Larry Dossey's boldest and most majestic work to date, with a powerful, lingering message: nature has designed us to stay connected forever. (Lynne McTaggart author of The Field, The Intention Experiment and The Bond)

Larry Dossey is not arguing simply for the existence of psychic phenomena, for which there is now much evidence, but for a deeper linkage we all share to One Mind which underlies our seemingly separate individual minds. This book combines a thought-provoking thesis with remarkable and vivid accounts of personal experiences. Only Larry Dossey could carry this off. (Rupert Sheldrake, PhD author of Science Set Free: 10 Paths to New Discovery)

There is no more powerful idea than knowing and feeling our oneness to inspire the cooperation we so urgently need to create sustainability and humaneness in our world. (Ervin Laszlo systems theorist and author of The Akashic Experience and Science and the Akashic Field)

Dr Larry Dossey's strong and lucid new book, One Mind, presents convincing evidence for shared coherent consciousness of both humans and animals-mental and physical experiences shared by friends, lovers, and identical twins separated by hundreds or thousands of miles. Very compelling reading. (Russell Targ, PhD author of Limitless Mind and The Reality of ESP)

Heralded by the finest minds of our time as a major braekthrough in ideas destined to make a significant shift in our understanding of consciousness, this bok's scope and premise are awe-inspiring... Presented in absorbing, easily digestible bite-sized pieces, this book of profound scientific insight resonates beautifully with spiritual perspectives. (Cygnus Review)

One mind by Larry Dossey is one of those special books that only come along once in a while, and has a big impact. I first learnt about unity of the mind many years ago, but have not found anyone who is able to share the teachings in comprehensive, yet easily understandable ways. Everything shared is a breath of fresh air to the mind, soul and emotions. You can rest assured he has covered so much in this timely book. So many completely different aspects on the subject of the one mind (unified reality) are covered, that I shall focus on just a couple of chapters that stood out above the rest.

Chapter 25: - Removing the Stuffing from the Keyhole.

Daimons or inner guides are mentioned, such as Joan of Arc experienced, where invisible guidance is offered to that person. I believe this is something we all experience, yet label by different names, such as our guardian angel, intuition, or perhaps some other name. I found this refreshing to read this within this book, as this is something I have felt and experienced my whole life, but took some time to attune to properly, so the guidance was clear enough to act upon. Larry discusses the fusion of the individual mind to the greater mind (or one mind), and the ability to connect to higher wisdom.

The Curse of Concreteness is something I had thought about, in my own words, for years, yet somehow Larry unlocks that which is set in stone, to free us from limitation by recognizing how we clip our own wings through fixation and inflexibility in our actions through life. Here is a short excerpt that will give you some insight into One Mind book: -

There are no formulas that guarantee entry into the domain of the One Mind. Even when props are used, access remains a matter of being, not doing.

Judging by the exuberant reviews by Dossey's friends and fellow writers in the One Mind camp, filling four crammed pages at front of the book, this is just about the greatest thing since the Bible. Actual reading, however, does not bear this out. Composed mostly of case stories (some would say anecdotes) and references to other peoples' thinking and work, this is a fairly easy read, informative and entertaining, and the obvious warmth and kindheartedness of the author cannot help but charm you. I doubt that the book will convince a single sceptic, though, but to believers (such as myself) of the One Mind concept in its many different guises, this is a highly pleasurable read, heavily annotated for optional further reading. A very nice read, but a major event, no.

(Note: The book (my version is the Hay House paperback) is set in an obnoxious typography (Verdana?) that may look OK on a small computer screen or on inlays for prescription medicine, but should NEVER be used in a book meant to be read with something like aesthetic pleasure).

This book is an excellent overview of work that is now being done in the area of Consciousness. Science is not exactly catching up with the Ancient Wisdom, but at least it is heading, slowly, in the right direction. Larry Dossey though, is spot on and his writing is clear and easily understood. The book is very interesting. We don't need to be 'saved', we need to wake up! This book my be a start. Thank you.

At a time when all humanity, and perhaps the whole of creation, "groaneth and travaileth in pain together" in the throes of global transformation and the individual gaze becomes more and more transfixed on ecological Armageddon, the gap between the growing threat of global warming and the incapacity to act effectively in reversing planetary degradation deepens daily into a chasm of collective impotence and personal despair. As French sociologist, Bruno Latour, has wryly remarked: "The camel seems to stand no chance of going through the eye of this needle. When the first tremors of the Apocalypse are heard, it would seem that preparations for the end should require something more than simply using a different kind of light bulb..."

Not all commentators see the end in sight but rather the birthing of a new world: they live today with a strong, growing sense of expectation, often laced with apprehension, as if some radical and rapid process of change has been activated, involving a fundamental break with the past which will release us into a new and unknown future. Psychiatrist and founder of transpersonal psychology, Stanslav Grof sees not the end of the world but a revolution of consciousness. He points out: "The original and literal meaning of the term apocalypse... is not "destruction" but "lifting of the veil" or "revelation." It referred to the disclosure of secrets, hidden from the majority of humanity, to certain privileged persons" (Huffington Post 05/07/2012). Grof sees the current global crisis as a psychospiritual crisis that requires the radical inner transformation of humanity on a global scale - a "lifting of the veil"- no longer privileged to the few but universally, so that, as a species, we become more emotionally mature and spiritually aware.

One word: tenuous. The early premise of this book, is that there are so many other books written about the possible existence of collective consciousness over thousands of years, that it must be true. Quoting famous philosophers, authors, scientists and physicists etc. and passing off real-life stories as proof of the 'One Mind' theory is tenuous. Personally, I do believe in the nonlocality of consciousness, but this book adds nothing of any substance to the theory. One star.
