5.0 out of 5 stars The Coming of Crasta 18 Sept. 2014
By Suki Venkat - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
In Tamil, we say that it is enough to look at one cooked rice to see if all the rice is cooked. I read just this one book, that too free, but I can say with confidence, just like Jesus Christ, the writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez has at last been raised from the dead by Richard Crasta and transported to India. His writing reminds me of Arundhati Roy's writings in many ways, although much more hilarious and witty. It has that west coast air of confused identity, caused by various powerful forces let loose in India, symbolised by that great Moghul-Hindu patriarch Narendra Modi (inspired by the Bush-Rumsfeld-Cherney mafia) and the European pseudo-Roman empires of the past. It is difficult to purify oneself from all the crap that surounds us, it takes a lot of undoing, to make sure that they don't surface in your writing, even the great Rushdie has failed, but that is where Crasta has succeeded.
