Product Description

Complete collection of the fifth series. Richard Wilson plays the rambling suburban philosopher Victor Meldrew, who, with melancholic ease, rages against his friends, neighbours and life. Annette Crosbie plays his long suffering wife, Margaret. In this series, Victor takes revenge on an incompetant locksmith. Episodes are: 'The Man Who Blew Away'; 'Only a Story'; 'The Affair of the Hollow Lady'; 'Rearranging the Dust'; 'Hole in the Sky'; and 'The Exterminating Angel'.

Synopsis

Richard Wilson plays Victor Meldrew, a irascible senior citizen who always provokes people into taking extreme action against him. His neighbour - Angus Deayton (Have I Got News For You, KYTV) - wages unofficial war against him, while long-suffering wives (Annette Crosbie and Janine Duvitski) look on askance. Winner of 11 awards including three BAFTAs. This DVD features all six episodes from the fifth series.

This is one of the best series of One Foot In The Grave, containing the episodes: The Man Who Blew Away, Only A Story, The Affair of the Hollow Lady, Hole In The Sky; and two of my all-time favourite episodes: Rearranging the Dust and The Exterminating Angel! This 2-disc DVD set also includes the brilliant 1995 Xmas special, Wisdom of the Witch, as well as commentary on the episode The Man Who Blew Away from writer David Renwick and star Richard Wilson. One of the best purchases I've made in months!

arrived on time in perfect condition

very funny programme is a deffinate must have if you want a good laugh, only downside buying one of these dvds will make you want to collect the entire set as i did. although i would recommend this dvd i think getting a full set of season 1 to 6 may be cheaper in the long run.

Another superb edition to what is for me British sitcom at it's very best.It seems the BBC have woken up to the fact that they have for too long held off releasing this and other classics such as Steptoe & Son.Of particular merit amongst the gems on offer here is "The Man Who Blew Away" which nearly twelve years later still has me hopelessly howling with laughter . Incisive and intelligent humour laced with pathos at times. Now we'll hopefully get the sixth and final season replete with the two remaining Xmas specials from '96 and '97

Anyone who enjoys good comedy from an excellent cast would find this a welcome addition to their collection. Nearly 20yrs since it was aired on British tv it's one of those dvd's to pop on at any time wether at christmas or bank holidays. Never fails to enhance ones viewing.

Overall series 5 of One Foot was still a great one but there are moments when it doesn't quite measure up top the side splittingy hilarious predecessors. That being said 1995's xmas special was probably one of the if not the best ever with Agnus Deaton's desert dry humour contrasting beautifully with Richard Wilson.

I give this 5/5 throughout the series - simple as. If you've got this far, you'll know what it's all about... and these situations are far from predictable! :)
