Speechless at just how breathtaking this book really is. From the first few pages, I had a feeling that I was reading something special, and was I progressed through the book I was more and more impressed with each page.

I was drawn into the story of Lizzie, Samantha and Jaddi, and their reasons for wanting to spend a summer travelling the world. You will learn they are all hiding things from each other despite being best friends, and although as a reader you are privy to a couple of the secrets, there is at least one that no matter how much I tried to predict it, I was wrong. And I am so glad that I was, as it made for a far more shocking conclusion to the book.

Our Endless Summer features travel in South East Asia, Australia and America, and I loved so many of the experiences that are described. But what really struck me was Lizzie, and her attitude to everything. She is an inspirational character, and is central to everything, as the trip is in her honor.

There are certain moments that will definitely stick in the mind, such as Lizzie's reasoning for wanting to see as many sunsets and sunrises as possible, and the story of one of her hospital stays while she was 9 years old. I loved seeing how different the three friends were, and just how their relationship changes while on their travels.

One Endless Summer is in theory as story that should be incredibly sad, after all Lizzie only has three months to live, but although it has been written with plenty of beautifully expressed emotions, the story is inspiring and also thought provoking.

I'm really struggling with this review as there are things I'd love to wax lyrical about, but I don't want to spoil the experience of reading this for yourself.

After coming off the back of a very serious and emotional read, “One Endless Summer” was just the tonic I needed. Despite the main topic of Lizzie living out her last three months after a lifelong battle with cancer, it is actually very light-hearted and enormously entertaining as well.

The storyline is really good. Three best friends off on the trip of a lifetime to spend Lizzie’s final three months travelling around the world. The only catch is that it’s being funded by a TV company who want to film every thing for a weekly show.

Clearly the constant filming leads to a bit of friction and also resentment, often aimed at poor cameraman Ben.

I really enjoyed the fact that Lizzie has had enough of all the serious part of dealing with her tumour and is determined to spend her last three months having fun and living a dream. Yes, there are some sad parts but mostly the story is upbeat and that makes it a fun read.

Jaddi and Samantha, the two friends accompanying Lizzie on the trip, both have secrets which we discover during their travels. If they thought they were close friends before, their bond is about to get even stronger.

The author very cleverly introduces all the fakeness of the TV show who are more concerned with ratings and viewing figures. The way in which she writes about this almost makes you squirm thinking how awful some people can be - seeing a situation and taking advantage of it.

There is a twist at the end. To reveal that would spoil the story but it is a reminder that life doesn’t always turn out the way we think.

The book also provides a bit of a shock factor to the ending and one which also serves as a reminder to live our lives as well as we can while we are here.

I went into this story expecting it to go a certain way, but was totally blown away when it went a took a different turn. I was left wanting a lot more, but that's not a bad thing. I feel like there is so much more to find out about the characters and I'd love to read more about them in the future.

The idea is one which is so relevant right now with all of the reality television shows sprouting up worldwide. People want to watch, and read, real life stories about ordinary people, as well as extraordinary ones. This book taps into this need. The author manages to capture the intrusive nature of those working in the industry as well as giving the reader a heartwarming story of three friends going on the trip of a lifetime.

There are highs and lows throughout, along with a lot of hilarity. The characters are all written extremely well and they all have their own voices within the story. The author gives us a deeper insight into their lives, allowing us to understand what has motivated them to travel with each other in the way they do.

There are a few twists in the story, and I honestly wasn't expecting them at all. That is a sign of a good story, however, as you are left not knowing what will happen next.

I read this book in one sitting and am grateful to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy.
