Product description

From the Publisher

First published in 2002 with a D.I.Y. punk ethic, reaching paperback the following year, One Consciousness looked into the work and philosophies of Bill Hicks. Paul Outhwaite has taken the whole project and rebooted it with fresh insight, new analysis and new interviews. It is the work of a writer exploring his craft within the narrative of Hicks' life and work.

From the Author

"The book has evolved. Something stirred me to such an extent that the previous incarnation of One Consciousness seems to barely scratch the surface. Bill took me on a journey again, every bit as fulfilling as it always was."

I would recommend this for some reasons, and with caveats.
It is a difficult read, but a worthwhile one. For the first few pages, I wondered what I was reading . After a few chapters, I began to tune in.
Forget the spelling mistakes, the seeming non-sequiturs, and the digressions; this is a work of passion.
Only a fan of Bill Hicks could appreciate this book, therefore only Bill Hicks fans have ever read it.
It is so well researched that it borders on the insane. It is so nakedly a fan-book, that you will be surprised when you read that Bill Hicks was not the best at all things when it came to the art of stand-up comedy. Only a fan of comedy, or just having a laugh, can appreciate that he did get it wrong, sometimes. (To me, that only makes his material richer.)
I could go on, but I could not spoil any surpises. This is unique. It is not only a work of individual art, but of passionate love.

I was extremely impressed by this book. Having studied Bill Hicks since first seeing him live in 1989 I have since penned a 10,000 words essay on him in my newest titled Mindful Artfulness, as BillHicks fills the bill concerning the topic. His life is that of a almost mendicant monk, though given his milieu, he is more an urban shaman. Alas, how we need Bill Hicks today. BillHicks LIVES! Impeach Trump. I congratulate the author on a very well researched book, delightful insights and boots on the ground knowledge of stand up.
