About the Author

S.K. Hartley is a wife and mother to an oil soaked husband and a tomato sauce covered son by day, by night an International Bestselling Author who's first novel, Finding You, quickly shot up the charts in fall 2013, winning blog awards for the tear inducing writing and breath catching ending. Since releasing her first novel, she then went on to release two more books in the series, Finding Me & Finding Us, proving that New Adult is vastly popular among readers and writers a like. Located in the not so sunny North West of England, UK, S.K. Hartley deals with daily battles against Microsoft Office Word translations. Working as a British author who writes in American English is a challenge that's both frustrating and fulfilling. When she's not doing all the above, S.K. Hartley spends the rest of her time interacting with her readers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+ and also via her newsletter.

I was blown away at how good this was! I had not read from this author before but will have no problem buying her books in the future.
Once upon a time had great characters, huge sexual chemistry and a smooth funny, witty story. I would totally recommend it.

It was a very short and not a bad plot but not great. I've read some amazing work from this author but this one was a little lacking.

'Cinderella can kiss my ass. Fairytale are for mornons'
The two sentences alone had me wanting to read this book instantly. And it was one hell of a read!
It was sexy, brilliant and a whole lot of funny. I had tears rolling down face from laughing so hard and possibly snorted once or twice
Payton Miller does not do fairytales or damsel in distress. She's stubborn , strong minded and doesn't believe in love or happily ever afters.
In walks Gabriel Black *sigh*. He's strong confident and is not a man to be messed with. Have I mentioned he's hot? Like incredibly omg I'm gonna faint gorgeous? Cause he is! He knows what he wants and what Gabriel wants he gets and he wants Payton.
The 2 main supporting characters are Payton's 2 best friends Kylie and Quinn. EVERYBODY should have a Kylie and Quinn in their life! Kylie with her caring heart and one too many blond moments. And Quinn with his fabulous attitude and big brother nature. They are a pair to give best friends it's meaning.
Payton is our modern day Cinderella and Gabriel is our hotter than he'll Prince Charming. But can they have a happily ever after?
Can they find their once upon a time?
I absolutely loved the whole book front to back and could read it time and time again. I couldn't put it down!
One of my top favourites and would 100% recommend it!

I don't even have the words to express how much I loved this book! From the minute that Payton crashes into Gabriel's world you just know that sparks are going to fly and they aren't going to calm down anytime soon. Simply put... together they are explosive.

The characters are so well formed it is unreal, you can literally see them develop and grow as you turn the pages! It has to be said that I took an immediate liking to Gabriel, in my books ANY man that growls at you is a man worth exploring, and WOW is Gabriel worth exploring... By the way #GabrielIsLilys so don't get too attached ;) The friendship between Payton, Kylie & Quinn is brilliant, I adore the banter between them and to me these three embody the term best friends like no other group I've come across.

I've never been big on fairy tales so the synopsis really caught my attention, I was instantly hooked on the idea of an anti-fairy tale. I loved the story, it's hilariously funny and heartbreaking all at the same time and above all it is amazingly written. Once Upon a Time sucked me in and dragged me to another world, so completely that I lost hours submerged in its pages. 'Stop looking for happily ever after and start looking at once upon a time.' is a quote that we could all live by! Thank you SK Hartley for sharing this AMAZING story with the world!

When you fall into a romance, one that's seemed condemned, inappropriate, not necessary.
You seem to want it more.
You want it so bad you have to stay up.
Hey, no worries Ms. Hartley.
I didn't work a 9-5 today and it's now 2am the following day.

You know what I love? More than anything?

Falling into sweet surrender... Yeah.
Caused by fiction.

I loved Payton. I loved Gabriel.
I absolutely adored Kylie.
Quinn is my ultimate fantasy BFF.
I guess with fantasy it helps us forget the reality.
I'm so happy I fell into this book with a heart ready to be full, and I'm going to go to sleep happy now. So damn happy.

S.K Hartley has written a story that overlooks the light of love and gives us the shadows.
That in the dark we can find that one person to help us believe in that four letter word again.
For both of her characters, not just the lead female.

If I'm honest, I haven't read any books by this author before, but I'm off to go one-click now.

If you're looking for a romance filled with those crazy feelings this is the book for you.

Loved it. Felt it.

Thank you.

I am a huge fan of S.K Hartley and I have read all of her books. I was very excited to hear that she was releasing a new stand alone book and it sounded very good. Overall I really liked this story, as I thought I would. The writing style is brilliant, the characters were funny, hot, amusing and well developed. The story was sexy, hot, extremly romantic and intriguing throughout. The book had everything In it that I've come to expect from a S K Hartley book. However, after finishing the book I'm very torn on my feeling towards the book and the fairytale references throughout.
Payton is a great leading lady. She is extremly funny, especially when she is with her best friends, Kylie and Quinn. (Quinn needs his on book) I found myself laughing so much throughout the book. It was a great change to not feel like your on a emotional roller coaster throughout the book like a lot of books I have read lately. I liked it was light hearted to read. Payton doesn't like commitment and only does one night stands. She has quite abit of baggage that she's carrying around with her and that's why she can't or won't commit to more than one night. She's very stubborn and can handle herself easily in a argument and wont give in to anyone or thing easily.
Gabriel is the hottie knight in shining armour. He has a dominant streak that I loved and think that Payton needed at times. Gabriel wouldn't stand for her attitude or stubbornness and there were some great sparring scenes between them that was great. Gabriel also had a softer more attentive, caring side though. He always knew how to make things better and was always very open. He was a great character and a perfect man for a Payton.
The book was very light hearted , which I think it was meant to be.
