This book is a must for all who are struggling to come to terms with deconstruction. Culler writes with a clear and informative style which enables the reader to digest the rather sticky and stodgy theory of deconstuction with greater ease. This book is for all who are pulling their hair out at having to read 'Of Grammatology' and 'Positions' for the third time just to grasp what Derrida is going on about! Culler places deconstruction in its wider context including those who helped shape the theory as it is practiced today, including Saussure, Barthes, Freud, Nietzsche, and also those now considered contempories of Derrida, such as Lacan and Foucault. When beginning my own studies on deconstruction i found On Deconstruction to be a great help in orientating myself within this complex and playful critical world.
