First off- thankyou Forbidden for making new music. If like me you have been a fan since Forbidden Evil, then expectations would be high for this new album. I have held back writing a review until the novelty of listening to this CD wore off. Having listened to it solidly since it was released (and before when it was leaked on YouTube) the novelty still hasn't worn off. Listening to the album as a whole makes the songs sound more cohesive so don't jump to conclusions if you have only heard bits and pieces.

Bottom line quality music written by experienced talented musicians.

Alpha Century- Obligatory instrumental opener to any thrash album- no acoustic guitars though!
Forsaken at the Gates- Clear indication that Forbidden are back. In your face thrash onslaught
Overthrow- Another head on bruiser with great 'chant' vocals on chorus from Chuck Billy and Steve Souza
Adapt or Die- Familiar from demo but rediscovered when heard as part of the album. Cool Smyth intro lead lick.
Swine- Favourite song by far. This encapsulates everything that is Forbidden to my mind. Reminiscent of Green era. Absolute classic song.
Chatter- Interlude that only prepares you for an epic...
Dragging My casket- This is on another level in terms of songwrting. This showcases everything that Forbidden of 2010 represents- thrash sensibilities, melodic vocal lines and leads. A memorable song that oozes class.
Hopenosis- Again another familiar song via the released demo version. This song stands out as another example of a band prepared to express themselves outside of the confines of sticking to a 'thrash formula'. Neo Thrash bands take note.
Immortal Wounds- next favourite on the album. Love the vocal lines on this one. Really catchy riff on verse.

I can't really add too much more to what the first two reviews have said other than to back them up in fully recommending this album to lovers of true Thrash Metal.

There have been plenty of 'new thrash' acts peddling their wares in the last couple of years and while some of them (Havok, Lazarus A.D., Evile) offer some real crunch and grit for your money, they quite simply do not have the wealth of musical and personal experience that a band like Forbidden can bring to the table. Knowing how to fashion genuine songs with diamond hard riffs, melody, speed and technicality obviously takes years to achieve and this album is brimming over with everything that maturity and renewed hunger can create.

Who would have thought that 2010 would be a vintage year for the old guard of Thrash? Heathen, Exodus, Death Angel Overkill and now Forbidden are all hitting harder than ever- give them your support and buy their albums!

While Forbidden have never exactly been the biggest band around, any serious fan of Thrash Metal will at least be aware of them and most people reading this review will likely be very aware of their classic debut album `Forbidden Evil,' which stands tall today as one of the absolute best albums to come out of the Bay Area, the second wave and the genre as a whole. If you enjoy Bay Area Thrash Metal at all, if you have any interest in the Second Wave Thrash bands like Heathen, Vio-lence and Death Angel then it might be time to check out Forbidden.

For those who are unaware; Forbidden are known for their technical capabilities and musical prowess, especially in the guitar solo department as well as for vocalist Russ Anderson's instantly recognisable voice which differentiates Forbidden from the crowd. These key elements are all present and correct on `Omega Wave,' which helps the album retain that trademark Forbidden sound after all these years.

It has been thirteen years since the release of Forbidden's most recent studio album, 1997's `Green,' and while people may be expecting a cynical cash in on their debut's legacy, (the band went as far as to hire Kent Mathieu, the same artist who painted their first two album covers and got him to paint a cover which evokes their debut album) Forbidden actually find a good balance between the various styles present of all the band's previous four albums as well as introducing a fair amount of modern ideas and approaches to songwriting.
