4.0 out of 5 stars Attractive and functional watch. 3 Aug. 2016
By Dusty - Published on Amazon.com
Verified Purchase
I ordered this watch from amazon about six years ago, for $4195. Although Amazon watches are not covered by the manufacturer's warranty, Amazon does provide a two year warranty, covered by a third party.

Although I was a little skeptical about the third party warranty, I had been looking for a watch and watching (ha) prices for about 6 months before deciding on this one. A deal of $4195 popped up on Amazon one day, and I decided to jump on it, as it was about $1500 less than most authorized dealers.

The watch: I checked on the serial number after I received it, and it is authentic. It looks great, too! Some people have complained about the watch face being susceptible to scratches, but after six years of wearing this watch, 24 hours a day, with an active lifestyle, albeit less sexually active recently, I can't find a single scratch on it. In fact, my watch looks just as good now as it did six years ago. I am also a big fan of the Speedmaster line, but I chose the Seamaster because I am in the water a lot with swimming, surfing, snorkeling, scuba, etc., and I do not like to have to worry about taking my watch off. I also like the phosphorescent hands and hour marks. One of the reasons I wear my watch while sleeping, is to see the time no matter where I'm at (I travel a lot) and this watch retains its phosphorescence enough through the night to make out the time. It is a large watch! I like the feel of a larger watch, and this one has some weight behind it. While this Omega is definitely larger than average, it still looks normal, and not like those trend-following twits you see with the Flavor-Flav clocks on their wrists. I would give the overall appearance of this incredible looking timepiece a 5 stars.

My Seamaster also seems pretty accurate compared to friends of mine who own similar watches from other manufacturers like Tag, Rolex and Breitling. For example, my watch gained 93 seconds over the last 33 days, which equates to 2.8 seconds per day. I'm not sure what is standard, but it sure beats the 2-4 seconds per day that some of my friends are getting on their watches. Plus, this watch is a chronograph, which I use quite frequently.

I gave it four stars because of a mechanical breakdown that happened a few years ago. One day, I noticed that the stop-watch was running, and when I tried to stop and reset it, the top left, start/stop button would not work. It also created havoc with the automatic movement, in that my watch would be off by a minute or more, every day, and some evenings it would stop, altogether. I blame it on wearing it while playing golf. If you have a really low handicap, this may not apply to you, but I think that the constant jarring on tree roots, dirt, rocks, etc. found off the fairway, may have been too much love for it. Although the manufacturer says that it is shock resistant, and golf should not impact its performance, I don't think they had my game in mind. When I sent it in for repairs, they found a bunch of parts that were broken and had to be replaced. When I got it back, $650 later, it was working fine and has not had a hiccup since. I also remove it for golf, now.

5.0 out of 5 stars The rent is too damn high and the Planet Ocean is too damn heavy ! 14 Sept. 2007
By Anonymous - Published on Amazon.com
This is my fourth Omega and 2nd Seamaster (I still keep a 300M Quartz) and this P.O. weighs almost nine ounces even after removing some of the links.

I was heavier with thicker wrists when I purchased it but losing weight thinned my knobby ulna out and the Omega got reeally uncomfortable.

I'm versed in adjusting links and spent some time determining which side of the bracelet to adjust and twaked it with the included half link before determining I needed an extra half link (~$75) to adjust it comfortably.

Definitely try one in person at your jewelers to determine if you're comfortable with a piece this big, even my 50mm Invicta SubAqua isn't as heavy and the Omega taught me firsthand what an extradited fugitives wrists feels like.

The links can be resized with a simple band adjuster of suitable size such as SE Watchband Link Remover Tool and I keep one of these at the office and home.

This is by far the best watch in this category! Highest reliability and accuracy. Great look and sexy watch. It is definitely a must have for those who can have it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it. 20 Jan. 2011
By John W. Osvald - Published on Amazon.com
Make me happy every time I look at it. Beware - it's not for everybody. This is a honking timepiece here. It's wide in circumference, yes, but definitely not as "I have a wall clock on my wrist" as some of the Breitlings. However, this thing is thick and heavy. If you want to always know your watch is there, it's for you. The arm you were it on is probably going to be more fit than the other though.

Also you can dive to 600M. I understand that is a lot. Definitely deeper than your bathtub or pool. So you're covered. Also, have you ever looked at your watch and said -" damn- this thing has too much damned helium in it." Most watches, where can you go from there? No where. You're stuck. But this one? BAM. Helium release valve.

On a more serious note, very high quality you can see and feel, lots of attention to detail. I love the look of the back of this thing.
