Fallyn has been running away from the evil in her life for years, until one day a stranger enters her life and she feels like she just may be able to go home.
The story is about Fallyn, a woman who has been running from her past with the help of her Grandma. Fallyn feel in love or thought it was love with the wrong man, one night she was due to meet Roman in their usual spot but something felt off with the situation, she should had run in that moment but she continued to go towards him and that fateful night changed her forever. He wanted her in a possession kind of way not truly knowing what love truly means, he wants to punish her for the embarrassment that her family has caused his family and he will not stop until he makes her his.
Oliver is trying to move on in life after an unfortunate event has brought him to this cross roads and having a focus at the moment is good for him. After the army a group from his unit set up a private security company and this current assignment has him trying to deal with some raw feelings which this case has opened up. He is tracking Keagan’s wife’s sister and they have been close so many times but are always one step behind them. Ollie is determined to find this woman and protect her from the hideous things that have happened to her but he just needs a break in the case. When a phone call comes in from Keagan to tell him that they have found them and the Intel is that they are still there. Ollie then crosses half way across the country to find his Vixen and her cub as he has dubbed them.
This is the third book in this series but I truly believe this can be read as a standalone book, the series follows these remarkable alpha men and I love how the author can also show that they are flawed and broken and just need someone to love them. I loved the character of Fallyn, she could have been a needy woman who had all these terrible things happen to her but the authors made her strong and a real likable character I thought the end also brought a closure to Fallyn and her family. I also thought the way the story portrait Ollie as a strong and broken man was brilliant and the scene where he opens up to Fallyn had me shedding a tear or two. I am definitely hoping that the authors write more stories in this series as there are other men I would love to read about.
Oliver is the third book in the This is Our Life series by F.G. Adams. Again having read the previous 2 books in the series I would definitely recommend reading them first but it could also be read as a standalone. One thing I have noticed about this series is how each book is different, they each have their own storylines but with an underlying theme that intertwines them all. They are all really well written and good reads. I was really looking forward to reading this book as I couldn’t wait to find out just what happened to Fallyn. Her disappearance is talked about slightly in the first book, then more in the second book so when I saw this book was about her I couldn’t wait to get started.
Oliver does feature in the previous book as he is a friend of Keagan’s but we don’t really know much about him. I thought that he was a really good character – as expected a true alpha male but he had his own sad secret that he was keeping to himself. We hear him mention the name ‘Taylor’ numerous times throughout the book especially when he is thinking/speaking his own thoughts but it’s not until later on that we understand his suffering that is talked about in the prologue and when I heard his story I couldn’t help but get a nit emotional for him. It was easy to understand why he was struggling with his blossoming feelings for Fallyn.
Fallyn was a good character too, it did take me a while to warm up to her but once I read what she had been through her closed off character was exactly what I expected. I liked that she came to trust Oliver as it was pretty clear he had feelings for her. There were some pretty steamy moments between Fallyn and Oliver too!! I loved the relationship that she had with her daughter Harper and how close they were considering the lifestyle that they have had to lead for the past 15 years.
There were a few good twists at the end that made the book enjoyable to read. Out of the three books in this series so far I think this was the most emotional for me, especially as both characters had pasts that they were dealing with – one more dangerous than the other but still things the needed addressing. I actually really liked the ending as well and the bond that was beginning to form between Oliver and Harper – something very special! I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series!!
