Christmas, the season for all of magic, saints days and tales that weave within the folklore from cultures far and wide from the days prior to Christianity. Its definitely a book that's a lot of fun to read, will help you extend your holiday celebrations as well as giving you additional stories to tell around the Christmas fire. Back that up with some great new traditions to add alongside some recipes to try out and all round this book is one that will give you a lot of joy in that special season. Great stuff.

A magical book for me. I love the Nordic and central European myths of 'Ghosts and Hobgoblins'. The Brocken (on Walpurgis Night) and Black Piet are superb. Not to be read when you're Home alone or when it's freezing. Try a background of Sibelius.

This is a beautiful little book - full of interesting information and 'fun stuff'. I am making it a major part of my Winter Solstice celebrations and I recommend it for anyone who likes to find out why certain celebrations came into being. It is a joy to read!

There are better books on the subject. For example, there is no mention of Baldur and Loki in the mistletoe section. In addition, The author also seems to suggest that Skara Brae was bult by elves, which made me question the validity of the rest of the book.
