Additional Q&A
Q: Is it a single tuner or a dual tuner?
A: Single.
Q: Why is not a dual tuner?
A: We wanted to make the Digital TV tuner as affordable as possible so that we enable as many households as possible. Making this a dual tuner device would have increased the costs significantly and as a result the expected product adoption.
Q: Is there a DVR option?
A: No. Pause of live TV is a feature

Background:
I, like many people I imagine, have recently been watching less and less Live TV and more video on demand (iPlayer, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video etc.). On Xbox One especially I'd be surprised if people weren't using these features more and more. My existing Freeview box wasn't cheap but was flaky at times with slow input changes and the occasional difficulty coming out of standby, hence the decision to try out the first party digital TV tuner.
Installation:
I feel they really couldn't make this any easier- simply plug an aerial into the dongle and insert the dongle via USB. A prompt appears on screen to take you through a simple setup screen that takes a couple of minutes (the same as the one used for external Freeview boxes for the most part). I was impressed that Microsoft didn't cut costs by providing a short cable between the console and dongle but it's probably around a meter long which was a nice surprise.
Usage:
Because the Xbox doesn't have any remote commands to learn or interfaces to overlay on top of the result is clean and as the designers intended- it really is nice to see channel changes without the old Freeview box's interface popping up.
Functionality is somewhat limited (you won't be watching two channels at once for example) but what it does is done well. The interface is snappy and really beautiful compared to most Freeview EPGs. An extra bonus is that because the dongle works via USB this frees up an HDMI slot which can still be accessed (it's the last channel on the guide).
An unexpected bonus is that our old Freeview box would stay in standby day and night, consuming just under £13 worth of electricity every year when not in use. The Xbox One tuner has its power provided by USB and as a result means one less box on standby!
Quality:
It's plastic but without feeling like an egg carton- the production quality is great for something you'll never see, touch or even think of- I would have been happy for them to cut costs here but I certainly won't complain.
Summary:
If you know what the limitations are (e.g. no recording as of yet, Freeview's channel selection) then there really isn't much reason not to love it. A great accessory.
Then comes the option to browse TV programmes via SmartGlass, chose a channel and change it on tablet or remote or if the XBox is in use for gaming, simply stream the TV to a tablet or other connected device!
I'm not sure about this bit, but I would swear that the signal is also boosted to a semi HD format via the XBox because the picture is so much clearer via the Tuner than it is via my TV Freeview, yet it's using the same aerial cable. Unexpected bonus? Who knows, don't fight it.
Set up is simple, plug in the USB, Plug in the aerial cable, follow the on screen instructions. You may need help here because the most useful set up command disappeared quickly whilst I was still at the back of the TV. Missing that command makes installation tricky so be ready to unplug and re-install to re-trigger the tuning command. If you have a Kinect, the pop up also says how you can voice control set up!
I now have approximately 25-30 more channels of free repeats and garbage - sorry digital TV and radio content available than my TV alone was able to pick up. All told, a fantastic piece of kit that leaves the XBox even more centrally placed for home entertainment.
It connects and installs easily and sorts the channels in the correct order for Freeview and Freeview HD . It arguably provides a better TV picture than the tuner built in to the TV itself.
The minor irritations are that you cannot manually sort the channels into the order you want, for example I would like swap the HD channels for their SD equivalents, something you can do on pretty much every TV. You can hide the SD versions of the HD channels, but it doesn't put them in the SD equivalents positions. Also there isn't a direct way of entering a channel number so you have to scroll through instead. This can be eased slightly by using the xbox one app which allows you to use one view and scroll through on your tablet then select the channel to watch, plus through the app you can watch which ever TV channel is on the xbox directly on your tablet, handy for those occasional programme clashes with the other half!
For the price I paid there isn't really that much to grumble about
