Not 'official' at all. Can buy this for £10 elsewhere on Amazon. Liars. Dishonest seller.

The sales picture shows an official Xbox 360 gaming receiver, complete with the Microsoft logo. What you receive is a cheap Chinese knock off with an XBOX 360 logo in it's place, complete with useless little red driver disk. These are not plug n play at all, you have to go online and install drivers and then manually assign them. There are no instructions by the way, you have to find this out via You Tube. And even then they are not as reliable as the official product, with wireless signals that cut out from time to time. I can verify this because I actually own the official product for another PC and have experienced the difference in the past. If this is what you want, buy it online at around £10. At nearly £30, this is a total dishonest rip off from the seller. The official product is worth that. The products these sellers are pushing are not. It still works, but it's not the 'official' product at all. They are lying to you. You can get for a third of the price elsewhere.

Worked really well for about a year on Windows 10 without needing any fancy drivers or anything, just plug and play. Connecting the controllers was super easy and it made gaming on my PC really easy after messing about with PS3 controller drivers for years. It broke after just over a year however and I have no idea why. It just stopped working. Not overly impressed, but what can you do. I'll definitely buy another one but this time I'll go cheaper and get one of the unofficial aftermarket versions, as I've heard they're basically the same functionality-wise but half the price.

After my initial MS Wireless 360 controller failed, which I had purchased back on Day 1 of it being on sale and after it giving me many, many years of excellent service, I had to look at alternatives.
I had purchased the cheaper QUMOX XBOX 360 Wireless USB receiver but this despite being picked up by Win10 just fine couldn't keep a signal without constant drop outs on the controller (yes I chose to install the drivers manually). This Official 360 receiver worked perfectly out of the box and I haven't had an issue since.
The packaging of this product was a tad odd though - it came in a small, clear bag and nothing else.

I have been using this adapter for a rather long time now and it has worked perfectly ever since I first plugged it into my computer. There were no driver problems since this is an official receiver from Microsoft, so all the drivers are pre-installed with most versions of Windows (I’m currently on Windows 10 but I also tested this adapter on Windows 7).
The adapter has a good range too as my sofa is a good 5 feet away from the TV. In summary, if you're like me and have several 360 wireless controllers or just don't like wired pads then this is perfect. It supports up to four controllers although I have only tested it with two so far with no problems.
Overall a brilliant purchase and well worth the money when it saved me from buying several wired controllers. Highly recommended!

First of all, the reason for the four stars. This is described as being a genuine Microsoft product, but lacks the hologram sticker that all their products (including this one) would normally have. So while it MAY be genuine, this absence makes me highly suspicious.
If it hadn't been for that, I'd have given it five stars: it works perfectly. I've just built a gaming PC after five years of using an Xbox 360, and wasn't entirely sure I wanted to go back to using a keyboard and mouse; at least not for games primarily aimed at consoles. The first game I bought, Assassin's Creed 3, has borne this out - using my Xbox controller along with the wireless receiver it essentially plays just the same as with the Xbox, which is exactly what I wanted. I've only had the one game so far, so can't comment on broader support among games makers for controllers of this type, but I'm very pleased so far.
With regard to an up-to-date driver, I followed the advice given in other customer reviews and didn't even attempt to use the supplied CD. I went to the Microsoft website and downloaded the latest driver, and it worked without a hitch. I just have the receiver plugged into a USB port round the back of my desktop, and, having paired the controller with the receiver, all is done. I just have to remember to activate the controller before I start playing.
As for remarks about not being able to turn off the controller (unlike with an Xbox the central button does not of course turn off either the computer or the controller), this isn't a problem for me, as I have one into which I fit my own rechargeable batteries. I simply release the battery compartment to turn it off, and clip it back in again.
