After reading the negative 1 star comments I felt I should write a review of this chair. First off ther was a problem with the order, the gas lift sheath was broken. Contacted seller, whole new gas lift arrived within days. A+ customer service. I am 5'7 my partner whom i also bought one for is 5'6. We were coming from 3 year old executive style leather chairs.
Ive only had these a short time, so please bear that in mind when reading this but so far, have found the chairs, comfortable, well built and very adjustable. The padding is good underneath and the adjustable lumbar support is really good, really hits the spot, for our build, and heights.
This may have been a factor on the 1 star reviews, possibly height is a factor as to how well this chair will work for you. For our needs it has so far been a significant upgrade from our last chairs. Not really sure what to say about the coasters falling off as one chap said, all the surrounding spokes from where the coaster plugs into are metal. Maybe time and wear and tear will proove factors but from what i can see, they are definately NOT the cheap plastic variety of spoke. Have lost coasters on this design of chair before.
Assemble was very easy at a less than 30 mins build time. Allen keys provided. The fabric and mesh style causes alot less sweating than the old leather ones and i am very happy as is my partner.
If i had to be critical the one thing i would say is that the arm rests feel a little loose. Likely just to the way they are fixed to the chair. They are stable enough, just have a little wiggle in them that dosnt feel as solid as the rest of the chair. But i must highlight I would be knitpicking at this point, and certainly does not effect my overall opinion of the chair.
UPDATE TO THIS REVIEW: 18-2-15.
Ok, so had this chair for 10 months now approx. Build quality has held up nicely. Look and feel as good as the day I purchased. No problems with coasters droppin off or anything breaking. MY MAIN GRIPE HOWEVER, having now well used the chair for varrying periods. The headrest, tilts your head forward slightly. This has caused me pain.
No matter how I adjust it, I cannot find a spot where by the head rest does not throw your head forward slightly. This is more noticed in long seating periods at the pc. The arm rests are too wide apart, and could have ideally done with sliders, left to right and forward and back. There is chairs out there like that, just this isnt one of them. The problem is with too wider arm rests is i find my shoulders tensing up to accomodate for unnatural arm support. If you lean back - because the arm rests are static and dont go all the way back, there is ZERO support - in this scenario.
That said, if you are a 'wide boy', slightly weightier than average - the wide berth will be more suited for you as might be the arm rests. I cant get past the poor head rest however, its a really bad design, but does take some months with the chair for the fault to become apparant. In hindsight if i were to buy again I would spend more, maybe even upto twice as much for some kind of pro gaming pc chair, not just because I play alot of games, but just because I sometimes spend alot of time on my pc at a time. Linus Techtips type chair I think will be my next purchase. If your usage to small to medium - then I think for this pricepoint is still alot of chair for your money, is quite adjustable, just falls short of the mark - so am marking down to 4. But only because I feel a 3 would be too low. At the time of writing this - amazon pitches the chair at 3.5. I feel this is accurate. Its above average, but far from a perfect 5, sorry to say.
I would love to see this chair with adjustment sliders on top of the arm rests (left /right - forward/back), with a modified / removable and more configurable headrest. Slightly more padding in the seat area and for me would be a perfect 10. And I would certainly be willing to pay £200 for such a chair.
Hope this helps, future would be buyers!
UPDATE. 13 Months after purchase. Gas lifters are busted on 2x purchases of this chair. REVISED from 4 star to 2 star. BUYER BEWARE. Has also given me pain in my neck and shoulders. Steer clear of this one.
