I have never been one for zombies be it in story form or film but I had quite a few friends recommend this story and author to me and boy am I glad they did! From page one I was sucked in, could not put the book down and was gutted when I had to. The characters are so well written that you feel as if you are there with them. It is a story that flows so beautifully that even the quiet, peaceful moments in the book are a gripping read, probably because you are expecting the worst at every turn.
In all honesty this is a fabulous read and one I seriously recommend!

I really LOVED this book - and I am not a lover of all things zombie.
I read this book because I really enjoyed the previous book written by this author - and I'm glad I did.
The zombies were disgustingly graphically described in all their gruesome splendour but it was the story and the characters that really got me. They are believable because they are not perfect - each have their flaws but this adds to the story.
The situations the characters find themselves in are unique and unlike anything else I have read.
The story really gripped me and made me want to keep reading and I was gutted when the book was finished - I can't wait for the next instalment!!!!

"Odium" is the sequel to "Life Ever After", a short story where we get to know Nina, and also where the zombie apocalypse starts. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed LEA and really looked forward to reading "Odium".

In "Odium" Nina and other survivors live behind the walls that protect them from deaders, but life there is far from happy. She decides to leave together with Emily, a girl who's been banished from the place. The two of them are supposed to survive in a world teeming with zombies. As it turns out, zombies are not the only thing that may put Nina and Emily in danger.

I'm really impressed with Claire C. Riley's narrative flow. The book is easy to read, it's enjoyable, and it's a must-read for zombie-lovers.

I'm on book five and I've come back to the beginning to write a review as I love these so much!
I devour book sets and this one is one of the best I read in a long while. I find alot of sets/trilogies around atm are so rushed and lazily written, with multiple inaccuracies ie mixing up names, confusing plot discrepancies, and anticlimactic, rushed endings...
No so at all with the Odium series. Obviously a zombie apocalypse is a bit out there but the human reactions and interactions within the book seem realistic within the relam of the zombie apocalypse. The characters are thought out. They often have great back stories and show grit.
This series for me is up there with TWD... Hooked at the end of each installment.

I would recommend Odium to a mature audience.

Odium by Claire C Riley is a post-apocalyptic tale of survival, where you don’t know what to fear most, the living or the dead. I think if a zombie apocalypse was to break out, Odium is a pretty accurate description as to how the world would be. Claire C Riley is a very talented author, she has moved up into my top 3 favorite authors, you should defiantly look her up on social networking sites, as well as buy and read Odium. Her characters and their actions are totally believable. Some of the characters you will love and others you may not love so much. That was the case for me any how, but those characters that I didn’t love so much are essential to the story, Odium wouldn’t be the same with out them. Those characters are what made it so believable for me; I think there would be a lot of people out for them self’s that you would have to protect yourself from. The main Character Nina kind of frustrated me in the beginning; I didn’t think I was going to like her at first, but as the story went on she really grew on me. Mickey is a character I liked instantly. He and Nina have a complicated relationship that I was rooting for the whole time. Few different times I thrown for a big loop, with things I didn’t see coming and I am pretty good at putting two and two together. I love a book that gets me to talk out loud when I am reading it & that happened a few different times. Odium was kind of an emotional roller coaster for me. Clair is very good at descriptive writing, she uses all 5 senses and every emotion you can think of. I can honestly say Odium is my favorite book of 2013, I really belive this one will be hard to top. Don’t forget to add Odium to your TBR on Goodreads (If you use it) Happy Reading

WOW! This was my first zombie read and I'm sooo happy that it was. I was soo consumed by the all the "doom and gloom" in "Odium" that when I wasn't reading, I would be looking at my surroundings-where to go-how many people are around-wheres the closest weapon I find (yeah I went into detail).
More than likely I would be with my younger sister and of course do WHATEVER I HAD TO DO TO PROTECT HER. That's what I found so compelling about our heroin "Nina" she had gone through so much to survive the "deaders"(zombies) and to survive behind the "wall"(if you will-a safe haven for the remaining survivors). She was just "existing" behind the wall. But something happened and it sparked something in her. She took the opportunity to do something more than just exist she took a stand. It wasn't her brightest idea but she couldn't just say nothing. And that's where we met " Emily-Rose". Nina had this over powering urge to protect her and that's where the story really getting going but I'll leave you to find out who lives or dies...
