Quite enjoyed it, but found the prose rather stilted and felt left in mide sentance at the end.

HASH(0xa224f18c) out of 5 stars Wild Ride 21 Mar. 2013
By acarriagedriver - Published on Amazon.com

In a departure from my usual reading genre, I recently picked up a copy of Brian Kerley's, "The Octagon Key". What a treat to be transported back to another time (or was it back?) where people rode horseback, fought with swords and sailed in sailing ships. The main characters were well developed with multi-faceted personalities and histories. Early on in the book, I worried that I would be unable to keep all the characters sorted out, but as I read on they fell into place. This book is clearly the result of much research and a vivid imagination. I enjoyed the wild ride and look forward to reading what's up next from this author.

HASH(0xa1f97db0) out of 5 stars A northern diamond in the rough 12 Jun. 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

While it starts a little slow and rocky as the character recovers from amnesia to explore his world, this novel quickly finds its feet with derring-do, swashbuckling, armies on the march and ships under sail. What starts with a blow to the head will suck you in and keep you turning pages as Imar and his friends and enemies walk, ride, and sail through an arctic wilderness, in search of their hopes, their fears, their allies, their enemies, and a strange grey octagon that is the key to it all...
HASH(0xa1f97c90) out of 5 stars Sheets are not sails 5 Dec. 2014

Format: Paperback
Very great book...the story advances at a good pace and seems well researched except for the continual usage of the word "sheets". Sheets on a ship are ropes, not sails...

HASH(0xa1fa800c) out of 5 stars No Title 22 Mar. 2013
By Shinleaf - Published on Amazon.com

Intrigue, excitement, travel, mystery, romance, and of course a good quest all make for a good reading. Evil is always trying to thwart good at every turn. Romance without the graphics leaves me to my own imagination. I like that. I wont blush when I let my Mom read it. I usually dont start a series until they are all written, that way I get a complete story. I look forward to the next book or books. I gave this 4 stars as 5 stars would make it perfect. Not much in this world is perfect. I had to leave room for perfection. (Its a thing).
