The story had potential, it was funny in places but the heroine started to grate on me especially when she deliberately started to provoke some people during a contest. I especially disliked her being gleeful towards a woman, with who's boyfriend the heroine had an affair with. I thought if I met the heroine in real life, I would find her a nasty woman and it sort of went downhill a bit after that.
Thankfully it was short but the romance sprang out of nowhere and I didn't know whether to find it realistic or not.
I also enjoy sexy ladies who can defend themselves
Already dying for book 2!!!!!
Elizabeth is forced to strike a deal with the mafia king and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the story as every action is watched and Daniil awakens every sensual desire that Elizabeth never knew she needed. The chemistry smolders from every page and the sex scenes are scorching hot but the relationship rocks the house as they are kind on opposite sides and well Danill would rather keep the relationship on the down low from certain people. Strong, compelling characters demand the reader’s attention throughout this fast paced, smooth flowing plot full of suspense and romance.
Excitement explodes from the pages as Elizabeth’s agenda lands her in some serious hot water and their desires continue to heat up building lots of spine tingling tension throughout the story. Well written scenes and details capture the imagination bringing the story to life while the well-orchestrated events draw the readers in and refuse to let go and emotional turbulence arises from Elizabeth and Daniil being from two different worlds, especially when his is on the violent side.
The author has created a world of sexy characters spiced with the dark, edgy violence that gets the adrenaline pumping and hearts pounding so of course I was completely caught up in the story and I am definitely looking forward to reading the next one.
I could not get enough of this book, and was bitterly disappointed when it ended. The chemistry and wit between the two main characters was extremely entertaining.
One of the reason Scarlett Dawn is so good at creating characters is because she makes sure they are all independent and don't blur together. This was extremely clear in this book as so many characters were introduced, but each had there own personalities that were truly enjoyable.
This book is about a love interest between a talented reporter who is sneaky and ruthless in getting her story, and the 'boss' who just so happens to be the father of one of her topics in her upcoming story. This isn't like all the other mafia books, it shows how one women and one man can simply enjoy there time together regardless of there backgrounds. There are some hilarious moments, for example they get ridiculously drunk together and end up acting like children and having his bodyguards parent them.
This is a fun lighthearted read, with some laughs and passionate scenes.
I'm excited for the next book.
I hope she takes him home to mum and dad (hilarious concept for those of us who have read the book...)
However there are 2 story lines in the story, 1) destroy the reputation of a family and 2) keep her relationship with Daniil a secret from his children as she's around their age. So just as she's about to get her big break that will make her journalistic career the book fizzles away. Her big break story isn't revealed because "they've been hurt enough", his children have been told at a dinner we weren't invited to and now they're heading back to New York, all of which happens in the space of 2 pages. Disappointing.
Having said all that I really did like the characters and will probably get the next in the series. Scarlett's books are not for people who hate cliffhangers!!!
