5.0 out of 5 stars Immensely comfortable, optics outstanding 31 July 2014
By Brian D. Moore - Published on Amazon.com
I own a set in a Jet Black frame, with Black Iridium & Persimmon lenses (SKU# 57-669).

Absolutely amazing pair of goggles. I tried snowboarding for the first time in the 2013-2014 season, had to shop for snow gear after researching every piece, and by far one of my favorite pieces of my equipment list are these goggles.

First of all, the fit is just simply amazing. With the triple layer foam that lines around the goggles, I've never had a moment where they felt uncomfortable even after hours of use, and they never really gave me the conscious feeling they were there. The view from all peripherals is pretty good, and I think are only beat if you move up to the large-framed Oakley Canopy. I recommend trying on a variety of snow goggles to see what best suits your face, but if you've ever tried Elevate or Crowbars before, the fit is very similar, though they're a tad larger than A-frames. The mechanism to change out lenses is extremely simple, taking only seconds with little effort. As far as looks go, these just scream steezy.

Next, the optics: I've never had a problem with fogging unless I wore a scarf/gaiter a little too high against the goggles which caused me to exhale directly into my goggles. Even then, the goggles very quickly cleared up. The Black Iridium is a surprisingly great all-around lens that works decently in bright light, while still allowing great contrast to navigate through the shadows in the snow. I probably would opt for a slightly stronger lens (Blue or Fire Iridium) next season for days where the sun is extremely bright. My goggles also came with a Persimmon lens which should come in handy during cloudy days, though I have yet the chance to need it.

Accessories: Comes with a nylon-ish carrying case (used when carrying in luggage), a soft carrying bag (to carry the goggles and one spare lens around in your jacket).

The price is definitely up there, and definitely was cautious about dropping that much for my first ever set of goggles...but I've seen what cheap goggles can do (range of vision, the constant fogging), and you realize you truly do get what you pay for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great choice 30 Jan. 2014

I have a large face and nose and reg size googles were bothering me due to preassure in the nose zone and poor side vision. By getting these goggles those two issues were solved. Great quality! Also item description wasn't clear about it but they come with a spare lens and a case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oakley Airbarke goggles 8 Mar. 2014

Great deal on amazon at $150 with 2 lenses and after reading all of the reviews I figured why not get myself a pair for the winter 2014 ski season. I was not disappointed. Best goggles I've ever owned. Used both lenses on the appropriate days and they performed as advertised.
3.0 out of 5 stars Best goggles ever? Could have been. But very easily scratched 14 Jan. 2015

I love these goggles soooooo much. The black iridium and H.I. persimmon lens combo covers the full range from morning sun through night riding or clouds. The goggles themselves are remarkably comfortable for hours at a time and particularly lightweight considering their larger size. I picked these up to replace a set of A-Frames with a scratched lens and I can't believe how much better these goggles are--and I loved my old goggles. I will caution that they aren't joking when they say to only use the included bag to touch the lens (other than during a lens swap), as the coating is very sensitive. A paper towel killed my last H.I. lens after four seasons of use; it's the only weakness I've encountered so far, though, and all lens with decent contrast have a sensitive coating as far as I know. The case included with the set I ordered makes that much easier, though. So just take care of 'em. Look for bargains on weird frame colors if the price tag is your concern; Oakley is legit and worth the investment.
Update: Cleaning the inside of the lens is nearly impossible. I have now had four lenses develop scratches after wiping them while completely dry with a freshly washed/dried Oakley cleaning bag; this is how Oakley advises cleaning them, but it didn't work for any of them. I give up.

My new Airbrake Oakley's are great. Vision is really good because I can see much wider then my old googles. Also they fit perfect with my Giro Seam helmet. Great buy!
