This is a good idea gone bad, it takes several attempts to seat the controller correctly so it will charge and it doesn't feel like a sturdy connection once in place, the controller floats on the plug rather than nestles in place. You can only assume that at some point either the stand or controller will become damaged. It only achieved a second star because it is efficient at charging, but I shall be reverting to usb leads until a better solution comes out from someone else.

I've had a charging dock for my dual shock 3 for years and it was alwasy fabulously easy to use and totally reliable, so how does this stack up to my previous charging stand.

Firstly this doesn't come with a mains adaptor. The manual shows that you are supposed to plug this into the PS4 with the cable supplied that has two USB-A connectors that connect into 1 Mini USB that fits into the charging dock.

I have tried this with a 1A usb power adaptor plug and just connecting one of the USB cables and it seems to charge so clearly it can work of a mains supply.

Docking of the controllers though is fiddly and took me quite a few attempts to get the controllers on which is completely opposite to my old dock.
I don't know if this is because the controllers and the dock are new or because the design of the dock.
Speaking of design the controllers when sat on the USB connector do not actually touch the base of the dock they simply "float" on the USB connectors which personally look like they are too long.
Having only had the dock a short while I can't say whether this is a problem but it concerns me that repeated use of this stand "may" damage the controllers USB sockets. However the jury is still out on that one.

Other than that the important information is that the dock glows red while charging the controllers and then automatically stops when the controllers are charged changing back to the default blue.

Overall I rate this as OK but not brilliant.

PS - I don't undertstand why Amazon classes this as a game so don't shoot the reviewer for the strange fun and overall rating please :-)

I bought this charging dock with my PS4 and 2nd controller as I wanted to charge both controllers together and keep them tidy next to my ps4, it does this and more as it charges the controllers very quickly as you get a double USB cable (noticed if you only use 1 its slower). The lights turn red when charging and blue when fully charged so very simple. The only fiddly bit at first is lining the controllers to dock them but once you have done it 2-3 times you get used to it and its simple. Good buy vs official as its more than double the price

I bought one of these today because I bought another controller and thought it would be handy to charge both controllers at the same time without having to use the console itself as you can use a usb plug. I wish I hadn't wasted my money. It is a nightmare trying to connect the controllers to it and when you do manage it they don't seem connected very well.also the connectors are not very sturdy and are loose already. I now use it as an expensive stand to put my controllers on and just use the console to charge them up. I wish I hadn't bothered buying this. Complete waste of money

Disappointed with this charger. It takes a lot of f*#*ing about to actually get the controller docked properly where the red light shows it's charging. Simply sitting it in the dock usually gives a false blue light (this means charged) when you know via the PS4 indication that the controller is down to 1 or 2 bars power. You have to dock and re-dock and fiddle with the position numerous times before you see the red charging light appear. The controller doesn't seem to be supported very well by the dock either, it just floats on the charging port which makes me wonder if this will cause the controller harm over repeated dockings. Once docked and showing the red light it takes a reasonable amount of time to charge 1 or 2 controllers.........it eventually does what it's supposed to do, but it shouldn't have to be such a chore to charge your controllers.
Sort it out Orb or your other product sales will suffer from association.

Don't no if it's this or the fact that the controller is micro USB and if you don't put it in the connector just right you can bend the connectors. I blame SONY, why did they not leave the connector as a mini USB which is easier to connect, sturdier and less chance of breaking it.

Honestly, you're better off with 2 cables. Trying to connect the controllers to this is a real pain.
It doesn't hold the controls, it's literally a micro usb connector pointing upwards, you have to try and sit the control on the vertical connector and that supports the weight of the control.

I got it for less than £5 and still feel cheated.

I gave this product 4 stars simply because it does what I want it to do, charge my controllers. Yes I do find it a little difficult to place the controllers into the right spot sometimes but that hardly matters to me. The problem I have with it is that it does feel a little flimsy and sometimes I worry that the charger port may snap so I am sure to be extra careful. But I got this cheap product simply so I could charge two controllers at once and look nice, and that is exactly what it does. I just wonder how long it will last, but so far I have had it for over a month and have not had a single problem.
