This is a straightforward collection of almost every Irish fiddle tune you could think of - with a few hints on fiddle ornamentation. Whistle players would find it invaluable. Sadly American -ethnocentric rather than Irish, and the cover states 'over 1,000 fiddle tunes - in fact there are only 996 - we counted!'. Still an absolute essential if you want to play the music.

This is a fantastic book with every type of jig, reel etc. you could think of. They are all quite short as well, which makes learning them easy, and lots have ornaments so you can make them more complicated if you want to. All round a fantastic book - more like a library really! Highly recommended.

What a great book, so full of a huge variety of Irish tunes. I bought it to have some music I could play on recorder. Some of the tunes go out of the recorder range but most of them I can use. I love to just dip in and find things and it's not hard as whatever page I choose I just go for it and enjoy the variety of tunes. If you are proficient on recorder these are great for sight-reading and an enjoyable play. Whilst many of them can also be a fun challenge to improve playing style, especially getting to grips with the timing and the ornamentations. The only quibble I have is that a few of them seem to be written in a weird way that is harder to read.

Lots of good stuff here, but I would have like more music that is not necessarily attributed to O'Neill. Don't perfectly understand the presentation of the music. I guess what I'm saying is that it's difficult to sort out the 'original' irish music. But it is a great book and I have found many great tunes.
