The segate GoFlex are only SATAII to thunderbolt which means you lose about 150mb compared to using a SATA III controller.
this drive is compatible for placing it internally into my imac but haven't had the courage yet to open it up and add as a second drive to get the native SATA III controller.
Well worth it and plenty fast in any case via thunderbolt. Apps load up in seconds and cold boot is done in about 20seconds and that's with FileVault enabled. (Macs hard drive encryption tool)
UPDATE to this ----
So since leaving my previous review the drive failed. So many users are experiencing this it must be a service quality issue or build issue! Ridiculous, please stay clear of these! Much better to get a crucial ssd, they work for long great build and just as quick. Managed to get a 1tb SSD on sale via crucial that is awesome!!!
OCZ are pants!
Contacted OCZ, they suggested to send the SSD to warranty. Did not hear about OCZ than for 2.5 weeks, than received a refurbished!!! "replacement" SSD from the US. This might be sufficient replacement in the US, although within the EU, the customer can choose between a new product or a refund in this case. Replacement stocks should be available locally, for this type of products replacement times are much shorter given by legislation.
In the mean time I had to use the computer, so bought a Samsung 840 EVO from Amazon as well. This has more plastic, but the user interface is way much better, you receive better setting and performance options and approximatelly 30% cheaper than OCZ Vector. Regarding the above described matter I have contacted Amazon Customer Services as I have purchased both drives from them, unfortunatelly they were not helpful at all.
If you have a look at all reviews - at the time of my purchases there were not many available - there could be a type failure with the OCZ Vector 128 drives as they break down in 2-3 months time in a high proportion. The same complaints are present with the refurbished replacements.
Now I am going to sell the the "brand new" replacement for approx. 40 GBP. Pure loss, do not waste your time and money on this product and the low level of service.
I am giving it a five star rating even though it stopped working after a dodgy update that prevented it from being seen in Device Manager, Bios, or any other part of my comp.
So, I put it away for a few months and came across it recently and decided to see if I could get it working, and the Leprachauns smiled upon me and it is working again perfectly.
So, to my mind, it is a very quick, silent unit, but I am not too confident in OCZ updates.
The forums have people on there with bricked models after updating.
Due to this and my own experiences, I believe my next models will not be OCZ.
I opened a ticket to ask OCZ about the problem and they showed absolutely no will to help. They asked me to take the ssd out of the iMac and use it on a PC, and as soon as i told them that that can't be done as 1.i have no access to a personal PC and 2.-those who've tried it, know- it would take me more than 2 hours just to take the ssd out of the iMac alone, if you add the back ups and reinstalling windows on the ssd doing the test, mail them back, wait for a response, spend another 2 hours to put it back into the iMac and reinstall the OS etc would take a lifetime. Too much of a hassle for nothing. This is the exact response to my e-mail:
"Unfortunately we deal with ATTO readings only, as this is the software used for benchmarking our drives. So, unfortunately I would need to know ATTO readings to proceed further."
I think this is an awful customer service from a big company like OCZ, never ever buying from them again.

I've had 4 of these in RAID0 configuration, for a couple of years now. They've been on for 10000+ hours and doing well. SMART data seems fine. Nothing to complain.Published 4 months ago by Mr. Vlad A. Ionescu
