It's used on one output of an iSolem 1 to 2 Full HD splitter in the SKY box output with no problems...
[2 Way] iSolem [1080P FULL HD] 1x2 3D HDMI Switch Box (1 Input x 2 Output) - Splits HDMI Signals (Blu-Ray Player, PS3 / PS4, Xbox 360 / One, Sky HD, etc) to 2 HD Displays (HDTV / Plasma / LCD / Projector)
The sender and receiver both need to be powered by 5V transformers, each has a different connection one bayonet and on mini usb. The supplied transformers in the box were both fitted with usb connections. As I had taken the unit to my holiday home in Spain in was impractical to return it. Therefore I had to solder a connection to the power lead of one of the transformers. Very annoying. Maybe a one off or perhaps a whole batch have the same packaging error.
Performance wise the unit is excellent, plug in and play avoiding wires all over my wall.
Our new-build flat has the satellite points on the wall opposite the balcony, which means the developers intended the sofa to face away from the floor to ceiling windows. Up until now, we've relied on long dual satellite cables and an ethernet cable to feed the Sky box... until these.
The Nyrius NAVS500 produces a latency free, 1080p (yes, Sky is 1080i) feed that's allowed us to keep it tidy.
There are 2 power adaptors required for the set. The receiver uses a mini-USB connector, where the transmitter needs a 3.5mm centre pin positive connector (often used for cordless phones, etc). The kit contained 2 of the mini-USB power adaptors.
To make the set work, I've had to splice the correct connector on to the power adaptor for the transmitter.
Overall, a fantastic product, but without the right power adaptors, is basically incomplete.
Few negatives to watch out for:
- The power supplies are both the same in the box, but the TX unit needs a traditional round power supply - which, if I dint have a stock of these things would have stopped me using it
- Its a nightmare to pair - once paired fine, but its a real faff before that to get the units to talk to each other
- Signal quality is sketchy even a few metres though one wall
If you really want one, give it a try, your experience may be better than mine, but if you want an easy life avoid
So, I plugged into a power socket to use full power from provided adapter and it worked fantastically!
For information I managed a connection through a ceiling and two solid brick walls, but ended moving the system to my second sky box that is one ceiling and one wall away and this is working very well. Worth the cost as it really does do what it says on the tin!
To tidy cables and reduce number of cables going up to my TV, I used a 4 way extension lead to put power behind TV, then used an Anker USB hub to power this from a USB lead along with my Amazon fire stick, removing the need for the chunky power adapters that would not fit in the gap behind my TV.
Only downfall for me is that there isn't an HDMI loop through, so it does actually limit you on the master unit unless you don't mind having your HDMI unit connected to it all the time.
