I really wanted to love this but I just couldn't.

The gorgeous cover and the hilarious title had me thinking I was in for a sexy, humorous story but what I felt like I got was something pretty tame and almost boring in places.

Roxie is living a fast paced, crazy life in Hollywood, working as a chef to the stars, but one phone call from back home in small town Hudson Valley, has all of that changing and her whole life taking a 180. She goes back home to work in the family diner. It's here that she meets the gorgeous local farmer, Leo.

Roxie makes it clear from the get go that she isn't interested in anything serious. She's only back home for the summer, so a summer fling is all they can have. Of course this works fine until feelings start to get involved...

My problem with the book is that nothing about it was new or original. I feel like I've read this book a million times before, just with different characters and a different setting. I knew what to expect and I could guess what was coming. I just wasn't excited by the story at all. And I didn't find any of it all that funny.

My favourite part was actually the ending. The last 10% or so I thought was brilliant and captivating. I really enjoyed it. I just wish all of the book could have had that same feeling.

My love for Alice Clayton continues to grow with each book she publishes. Seriously only Alice could make peas sound sexy ;)

Roxie has worked hard to distance herself from her small town roots, reinventing herself from the awkward daughter of the towns colourful diner owner to a sophistacated chef to the stars. However, all her hard work comes crashing down after one single moment of a lapse in concentration and BUTTER!!!

Finding herself in a precarious situation, Roxie returns to her hometown, Bailey Falls, to help look after the diner while her mother takes off on an adventure. Although the move is a temporary transition for Roxie she soon realises her perception of Bailey Falls has been clouded by the negativity of her teenage years. The town itself has undergone its own transformation during Roxie's absence; now a thriving community centred around food and farming. Responsibly sourced products, farmers markets and specialty food stores are now a major draw to the town. Not to mention a certain hottie that runs an organic farm - FARMER LEO!!!!

I adored watching Roxie fall in love with her hometown as an adult, contrasting the lifestyle in Bailey Falls to California also helped her comes to terms with who she is as an individual, no longer under the shadow of her hippie mother but a woman and an individual in her own right. Stamping her own mark on her family's diner as well as Farmer Leo ;)

The lifestyle portrayed within Nuts had me longing to escape to Bailey Falls, do you think they need a librarian ;) I may have also looked up all the cakes mentioned within the narrative on Pinterest for the recipes, although I don't think I could do them as much justice as Roxie.

I have seriously missed Alice Clayton's writing! It's been a long time since I read a book by this author, but I couldn't pass up on the chance to read Nuts, and I'm so unbelievably glad that I didn't. From beginning to end, I was completely hooked! Talk about unputdownable.

Nuts was absolutely fantastic!! Funny and sexy and wholly entertaining. And please, please, please can I have my very own Farmer Boy? Because DAYUM!!! That boy had it ALL!!! I cannot blame our leading lady for falling at his feet because I swooned HARD for our hero. I mean, how could I not? He was delicious!!

Alice Clayton always manages to have me hooked on her stories. From the tales of a horndog neighbour, to a British movie star, and now a scrumptious farmer, Alice sure knows how to write her men. And do you know what? Not just the men. She writes she seriously feisty and fantastic women, too.

I really, really couldn't get enough of this book, and I'm desperate to see who gets the next book in this new series. Nuts is a book filled with sass, sexiness, and so many laugh out loud moments that I didn't want it to end. One of my favourite reads of 2015.

5 Star Review
I was given this book from NetGalley for a honest review
This is the start of a new series from Alice Clayton and what can I say apart from great job. Every book I have read by Alice makes me smile and laugh out loud and sometimes that just what we need...
As usual the characters are easy to love we have Roxie private chef to the stars and Leo a farmer from her small home town.
Roxie is home helping out in the family diner and has no plans to stay in the small New York town,
Leo has no plans to move from his home in that small New York town .....
There is no doubting the chemistry these characters have and sparks flew from the moment they met but what will happen at the end of the summer ...... Change can be scary but it can also be fun ....
Alice Clayton has given us yet another fantastic read that will leave you smiling, its a fun book with a sassy heroine and a sexy hero. Roxie and Leo together will make you laugh
This book left me with not only a smile on my face but it left me feeling good as well, what more can you ask from a book.
