5.0 out of 5 stars Every bit as concise, informative, and fun as her podcast and columns 29 Dec. 2014
By J Handelman - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
ND’s latest book is every bit as concise, informative, and fun as her exceptional podcast and columns (which is saying a lot- she sets some high bars). It helped keep me on course, and not lose the forest for the trees (as is easy to do in an area so fraught with conflicting studies, and claims about foods that are either miraculous, or to be avoided at all costs). I gave a few as Christmas gifts last year, and was pleased to get some very positive feedback from friends and family members who are far less nutritionally oriented than I am. Reinagel has a gift for sharing her knowledge and insights about living a healthful life in a way that’s as enjoyable as it is educational.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good basic info, easy to read 10 May 2013

I'm a fan of Monica Reinagel's podcasts (though I do tire of the incessant advertising you have to listen to during each podcast). This book is a great alternative. No annoying advertising to listen to! Has lots of good, basic info, a few surprises here and there.

There are a number of typos in the book, as somebody else pointed out. This surprises me. If I were Ms. Reinagel, I'd hire a better proof-reader.

I wouldn't say there are any earth-shattering, previously undisclosed "secrets". Most of the information is good basic nutritional knowledge. It is, however, presented in an easy-to-read, easy-to-understand style. One of the things I like about Ms. Reinagel is that she's not a zealot - she allows for human weaknesses and gives a few hints on compromising with the occasional treat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Precious manual, absolutely wonderful! 2 Mar. 2011
By Rossana Motta - Published on Amazon.com

I have ready many books about nutrition. Most of them try to give a general overview of the most important topics, which is a perfectly fine approach too.
This book is a little bit different, it has something more that is very rare to find in books.
It answers so many questions that you may have if you are into nutrition but you do not have a phd in nutrition science. It explains everything wonderfully, and presenting solid scientific evidence.
It explains what is behind the true and the false of common believes, so that you can have full awareness and then you are free to decide what (and how) to eat or not eat not because its the current trend or because someone told you that you should do so, but because you really know what you are doing.
I truly consider this book a little masterpiece. I absolutely recommend it to anyone.

I'm a nurse, but learning about exercise and nutrition is my passion. This book has got to be the best I've read on nutrition. It's full of info, but not boring. It's very easy to find any topic you're looking for more info on, or you can just read it through. The recipes are very good as well-super easy and delicious!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I approve. 7 Dec. 2013

I really like Monica Reinagel's work because it seems like the common sense of a normal, educated person/dietitian. I'm quite tired of reading conspiracy theories and I find it refreshing to read about realistic issues that apply to the modern person regarding their food intake.
