The re-release of The Number Of The Beast single is designed to commemmorate the 25th anniversary of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. It is a decent release, but has its problems.
Firstly, every self respecting Maiden fan will already own this release, and also, this song was released in 1982, only 23 years ago. It would have been more appropriate to release an early Maiden single such as Running Free or Sanctuary.
That said, this is a nice little disc. The CD version has the single itself- one of the finest songs ever recorded, and the B-sides are The Number Of The Beast and Hallowed Be Thy Name live at Brixton. Anenhanced section also includes the original promo video for the single and the video of TNOTB from the bixton gig. The 12 inch picture disc also sounds good, including the original Remember Tomorrow Live (Maiden Japan overdubbed with Bruce vocals)B-side and TNOTB Brixton, and there is also a 7 inch vinyl with a poster. I will buy this, but it's certainly not a necessary purchase and is probably more of a Sanctuary release (Maiden's management) than a Maiden one. I hope Clive burr gets a portion of his profits from the B-sides for his MS fund.
SCREAM FOR ME BRIXTON!!!
(Wish I had been there)

Everyone's heard Number of the Beast before, so this is only really here for collectors. It includes the title track, along with live versions of Number and Hallowed Be Thy Name. It's good and cheap, nice to have, but there's next to no reason to ever listen to it.

HASH(0x9adf07c8) out of 5 stars Pretty cool for collectors. 6 Jan. 2006

I got this single, basically, becuase I'm a completionist, but it turned out to be pretty cool. I was dreading my first listen, cuase it was the original track from NOTB, and live versions of Number Of The Beast and Hallowed be Thy Name, which are on all of the live albums. It turned out to be nice though. The 2 live tracks are from the original Clive Burr charity gig in 2002.
