A simple easy to follow system is provided that is accurate and thorough, this book blew me away with its systematic approach for finding a career, through a series of questions and enquiries, though aimed at the younger market its even better than its predecesor ' pathfinder' because of the added details on personality types not just myers briggs, the famous type indicator but his own aptitude profile. One thing I would have liked is the inclusion of Tangible aptitude with the NF careers information, which does not appear in combination in a chart for the NF myers briggs group only spatial and and non spatial catagories and careers are listed on the chart, there is however a type by type list with spatial, tangible and non spatial aptitudes which is immensly useful. I was really able to hone in on my skills and it opened new doors for me so that I could find ways to use them and become a more fulfiled human being.

Not really much use, it's little more than common sense and the author repeats himself frequently. He keeps trying to up-sell you to his expensive course so I would give this book a miss.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book I found for career direction 6 Sept. 2008
By SBCincinnati - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I purchased this book for my niece, who is a college sophmore and struggling with what to do with her life. We spent an afternoon going through several chapters and quizes. We found the book to be very enlightening. It confirmed a direction she was considering and gave her confidence to pursue her passion.

I am now purchasing the book to use with my son, who is a high school senior. Now What provides a variety of personal assessments that really help a young adult see why they would be good in a particular field or work environment. I wished my high school counselor had a similar book when I was a teen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential! 3 Aug. 2011
By K. Rice - Published on Amazon.com

As a career coach, I couldn't recommend a book more highly than Now What. This is due in large part to the Career Finder Toolkit. There is nothing out there like it. I've found it to be an amazing tool for my clients.

While there are some other very good career books available, they are supplemental to Now What and Lore's earlier book, The Pathfinder. Even the best, classic career books stop at identifying Psychological Type and/or subject interest, which, while essential to integrate into career decision making, are only pieces of the puzzle. Now What? not only helps identify Type and interests, but also aptitude, a critical element to consider when figuring out what to do with one's life.

Additionally, Lore and Spadafore help the reader incorporate other pieces of the career puzzle by providing exercises on personal preferences for meaning, values, environment, and natural roles. I encourage my clients to use these exercises to help them discern which questions are the most critical to ask themselves. I also encourage them to take the Rockport Aptitude Test, which Lore helped design, to really nail down their strongest aptitudes. It's a sophisticated assessment, so it's not cheap, but the benefits of getting and using one's results are immeasurable. (I took it myself after reading the book!)

In summary, the authors take a much more holistic approach to career design than any of the other writers I've read. In my opinion, Now What? is a must for old and young career seekers alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars In a nutshell 22 May 2016
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Don't try to rate your talents yourself-get tested for that. Then use all of the careers you get from the interests, personality and talents tests and run them down through your prioritized job functions, values, roles, goals and missions. It will be tiresome, but do it for every single one. The jobs/careers that get the closest to your preferred choices are the ones to go. You will get the most out of it that way. Also, prioritize the careers that you're talented on, interested in and personality-compatible on. Happy researching!

5.0 out of 5 stars Help Your Kids and Help Yourself, Navigating Today's World Isn't Easy 2 May 2008
By Debbie Robins - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
If you're a parent or stepparent challenged by how best to support your kids as they enter the 'real world', or a young person struggling to find your way professionally, or a counselor/educator/mentor dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the next generation, please heed my suggestion to run out and buy this book. Like Lore's first best-seller, THE PATHFINDER, NOW WHAT? is an equally life-altering experience! A must, must, must read.
