I bought this CD as I think Rik is probably the only serious thing to emerge from the whole pop idol hysteria. Rik does have a great voice but I am not sure if this is the correct album to showcase his talents. All the record companies involved with the pop idol singers are just releasing cover version after cover version to cash in. I dont think this will bring long term success to the artist. If doing covers, you should be able to improve on the original or bring fresh ideas to the track. I think Rik has set his sights too high by covering artists of the calibre of Alexander O'neil, Alyson Moyet, Denis Edwards, John Secada etc. These artists and tracks are complete classics and probably should be left well alone. The production on the album is very squeaky "clean" and some of the tracks do border on "karaoke" backing tracks, it is all a little bit "nice" and "cabaret". Having recently met Rik and seen him perform live, he is very talented and a very nice guy. I get the feeling that his record company see him as a quick cash fix. I am not suprised this album has not sold well, as there does not seem to have been much thought put into the track selection or production. The next album should contain 90% original material and have some time taken on it to showcase the obvious vocal talents of Mr Waller.

Forget Michael Jackson's "Thriller" this is the greatest album of all time. Now a lot of people think Whitney Houston's version of the classic "I will always love you" song is one of the best of all time, but Rik's version puts it to shame.

With no disrespects To Will, or Gareth - because I like them both and have cds by them both ... but this guy was the BEST singer to emerge from 'pop idol' ...This is a very good selection of songs, Labi Siffre's 'something inside so strong, don't look any further, all cried out and I will always love you are all excellently performed..but his version of ' on the wings of love' stands out..and is better than the original' Good album.

I have to be honest and say that I saw this album for a couple of quid and brought it for a laugh more than anything else.

This guy does get a lot of stick, mainly because of his weight and his appearance on 'Celebrity Fat Club' probably did little to help his reputation.

However when it comes down to singing, this guy's talent is undeniable.

He was never destined to be a 'Pop Idol'. Lets face it, teenage girls were hardly going to have posters of him on their bedroom wall or a pencil case with his photo on it!

I knew this was an album of covers and was almost cringing when I put this into my CD player. Although his vocals were great on 'I Will Always Love You", the track its self was bad for his reputation and made him into even more of a joke. However there are some bloody good covers on there. Alexander O'Neill's "Criticize" and Jon Secada's "Just Another Day" are pretty decent in my opinion.

An album of covers will never be given much credit, but Mr Waller has done a decent job on these. If he could write good songs, then he may have a decent career in music, appealing to a more grown up audience. However his 2nd album also appears to be full of covers and I anticipate that will be his last.

Great singer, but if he cannot produce his own music, then he unfortunately won't ever be taken seriously as an artist in his own right and will never shake off the 'Pop Idol' stigma.
