A tiny percentage of the population have gained super-powers. Some appear to use these powers for good, some bad.
This novel details the revelations that come about when someone scratches the surface and digs a little deeper.
Exploring issues such as Government control, Surveillance, Morality, Family, Friendship and Identity. This novel contains some meaty subject matters.
I absolutely loved this book. I devoured it in a day, I'm totally looking forward to the sequel due some time in 2017 (I believe?).
My only criticism is that I couldn't help but notice a few typos here and there in the kindle version. But it was easy to overlook them as the story charged forwards
The romance between Jess and Abby is nerdy as hell and super sweet. Also major plus for great on the page bisexual rep -- I even loved Jess's snarky interactions with her school LGBT group.
My only real issue was that for me, Jess read a lot younger than 16. If I hadn't been told she was nearing 17, I would have placed her at 13ish. It just seemed like some of the decisions she made would make more sense for that age group, as well as some of the ways she thought about things. The book also has that really energetic, fun vibe of a MG book -- which isn't a bad thing, but would have gone along with a younger aged protagonist.
Overall, a cute and quick read that I recommend!
Also, the cover is awesome.
